i ordered this item to mount a LMT front sight on my AR15 with Lancer carbon fiber handguard. this 15” handguard has slots cut in the hand guard that are spaced to accept the accessory rail with a threaded metal spacer/retainer held in place by two screws. the rail would probably be mostly used to mount a light or sling swivel. if used the forward most slots the front sight would have been about 3.5 inches towards the rear of the AR. reducing the sight radius and uninstallable because of gas block interference. the solution was to drill a small hole forward of the front slot and enlarge it with my Dremmel to match the others on the hand guard enabling me to mount the sight in the desired position. i could have also installed a low profile gas block which would have been more expensive and time consuming 15 minutes of my time was a better deal for me�
