Fantastic Handguard
This is the best upgrade you can make for the older generation Sig 716. It changed the weight distribution and now the rifle is lighter and feels more balanced, not to mention no more cheese grater for your hands and I can finally grip the forend at my regular length.

First of all, things other reviewers write about this item are true. And, yes, the fit is great and the quality is fine. It does change the feel to a very nice experience...

Looks and feels way better!
Going from the chunky patrol quad rail to a more streamline Mlok rail feels alot better and I was able to move the bipod a few inches further down so the pivot while shooting isnt as bad. Overall to swap the rail took just about 10 minutes and the carbon is definitely lighter.

Great Lightweight Handguard for the Gen 1 Sig 716 Patrol.
This hand guard is just nothing but nice!!! It's very lightweight, well-built, good looking, and sturdy. It make the original "SWAT Rail" look like a joke, and when I purchased the rifle in the first batch that they sold in the US I LOVED it. Now, I understand about free-floating hand guards and accuracy, and heat dissipation. Once I add an ARCA rail to it, it will be perfect!

Fantastic bit of kit
Great addition to an already great gun. You will not regret purchasing this carbon hand guard. It’s a little pricey but well worth it. Easy to install. Only problem I ran into was mounting a Magpul m-lol sling stud, for my bipod. The bayonet lug gets in the way when you tighten down the m-lok mounting screw. I ended using a Harris systems stud and the predrilled hole on the bottom of the hand guard out near the end. It all worked out fine. Also, as you can figure out, no more bayonet charges, the long hand guard covers it up☹️
Pros:

Cons:
- It is slick, added a couple BCM 3 hole slot covers

Only option for a gen 1 716
Fit and finish were good,I was skeptical about the carbon fiber, but it seems fairly robust, only 3 stars because you have to lock the front rail to the gas block with a red dot mount to force it into alignment even though it has tabs. At this price point this handguard should be perfect. Aside from that,it changes the look and feel of the 716 g1 for the better
Pros:
- Looks good,light and rugged
Cons:
- Top pic rail alignment
Best Used for:
- Updating your classic 716 g1

Perfect fit and function
The Lancer handguard is a great addition to my 716 Gen 1 Patrol. Honestly the weight savings everyone rants about are negligible. The difference between the OEM and Lancer according to my scale was about 1.2 ozs. But, the feel, the M-Loc mounts and longer hand perch are great. Fit and finish are perfect. My only complaint is against Optics Planet, if you are going to offer free 2 day shipping, then make it 2 day shipping. My order took 5. ☹
Pros:
- Great Fit
- Easily installed
- Very functional
Cons:
- Must remove to service piston
- Kinda' spendy

sig 716 upgrade
Great upgrade for a great discontinued rifle. It was plug and play and added much needed rail space. Lightweight and ridged construction. Optics planet expects a novel for some reason or they won’t publish you’re review… it’s a quality hand-guard.
Pros:
- Lightweight
Cons:
- Exspensive

Light and very strong.
Handling and manipulating the weapon made easier and more confidently. Solid feel. I waited a while before deciding to do it with my 308. Totally great decision. The rifle is just better in about every-way now. I love it I really do.
Pros:
- light weight
Cons:
- cost

Lancer Extended Length Handguard for Sig 716 Patrol
Easy install and excellent fit from the Lancer Extended Handguard for Sig Sauer piston rifles. Removal of the "cheese grater" (as it is commonly referred to) factory handguard off of the 716 is simple but be sure to remove the keyway and the 2 screws on the bottom of the factory handguard. Clean where you just removed the factory item while you have it apart, might be nasty in there. Follow instructions or you might overlook the step of removing those 2 bottom screws if you just go to putting it all together without reading first. Once attached, it makes for a good looking setup and I like the smooth feel. It won't be grinding in and out of my Bog Pod Death Grip clamp like it did on the rails of the factory handguard. It's pricey but well made. Very pleased with the unit.

Exactly what I was looking for
This handguard is exceptionally well made and was worth every penny. Makes for a modern update to the carbine length hand guard that came on the rifle. It does interfere with the ability to field strip the gas block but seeing as how I’ve only done this once before and do not actively fire or carry the weapon, it’s no big deal for me.
Pros:
- Quality
- Fit
- Modularity
- Aesthetic
Cons:
- Field stripping gas block
