Good sharpener, with a few tips - Lansky Sharpening Kit w/Four Diamond Hones LKDMD

This is a very good knife sharpening system, IF you know how to use it. I recommend you watch the youtube video by Gough Custom. It is the best instructional video for this kit I have seen. I recommend this kit. I use it on my high quality kitchen knives. The result is just as good, if not better than sending them off to be professionally sharpened. Here is a downside, if you sharpen only one of your kitchen knives you will become disgusted with the dullness of all the other kitchen knives. So be ready to fire up the Netflix or some other back ground distraction and go to town on those dull knives. I recommend that you pay up and get the diamond hones. But if cost is a huge factor I am sure the regular stones are fine. You MUST get one of their stands. The stands are purchased separately but they are not expensive and worth the money. In fact if you do not buy a stand, I would not recommend this sharpener kit. My kit came with two red knob screws, one for the front one for the back. Take off the knob screw in the front. It gets in the way. Replace it with the provided flat head screw. I keep a dime in the kit box to tighten and loosen this screw when I switch out knives. It works great and cost ten cents.
