Todd G's Review of Steiner DBAL-I2 Dual Beam Aiming Laser Device

I hardly ever write reviews, but this product is outstanding and I had to share my product review. I have this Steiner DBAL-I2 on the top rail in front of a EXPS3-4 Red Dot Sight & G33 Magnifier. To my surprise the DBAL is only ever so slightly in the sight picture. This set up in on my AR-15 in 300 Blackout. The green laser has two settings. The high setting can be seen well out beyond what an AR-15 in 223 or 300 ACC would every be effective (for me, anyway) so I am going to sight in for 50 meters as is my EOTech. I will probably do the same with the IR laser. It will be fun to mess around learning to use. For credibility as a reviewer, I've been an engineer in electronics and mechanical product development for over 20 years. I can tell you straight up, this device is mil spec quality all the way. Both lasers have adjustments with excellent positive detents with solid feel during adjustments. The function selector knob is solid; change of settings is extremely smooth with zero axial shaft movement. Mechanically, the remote switch mechanism is super high quality. The plug snaps in solid and seals up tight in the housing - surely will keep dirt and moisture out. The momentary switch appears to be of high quality, also. The lens cover retainers are impressive - I'm really curious as to what material is used. The cover retainers are pliable only just enough to slide on and off the lens. It's definitely not some cheap polymer material that wears quick, cracks, then detaches. Time will tell with use. I noticed that the fasteners that hold the case together are countersunk and the cavity is flooded with some material. This enclosure is not coming apart under normal abuse. Probably most important. I laid it in a gun vise and marked the green laser on target at 50 feet. I detached it from the rifle, wiggled around the latch mechanism, then put it back on the same rail location. It was dead on spot. I did this a few times and perfection. Forget all those lower cost lasers out there that try to emulate the look, feel, and operation of Steiner - they are all garbage. You work hard - treat yourself to the real deal. Save up your hard earned cash longer if you have to. This laser will last. I highly recommend this one.
