Jeremy L.'s Review of LaserMax Spartan Adjustable Rail Mounted 5mW Red Laser Sight

It's been exactly three months since I got one of the first production models of this Spartan red laser sight from LaserMax. While I consider myself lucky to get one of the first ones, I've been dead set on finding all of the weaknesses of it and regrettably have not found anything worth scoffing at.

Usually when you put the words quality and laser sight together what you're left with is a sight that comes in north of the $150 mark. Somehow the ultra smart designers at LaserMax managed to wip up a light weight laser sight at an MSRP of $99.

I know what you're thinking "Well it's got to be a total hunk of junk for that price." Nine times out of ten you'd be right but the Spartan defies that mentality. Like I said earlier, due to the fact that its made of what looks like a high density plastic/polymer I thought breaking it would be easily accomplished with how I test gear. A combination of drops and whacks while attached to a Beretta blue gun left the sight showing minor wear marks but the sight stayed attached and maintained zero unconditionally.

If that abuse hasn't sold you on the featherweight laser sight, there's a few things that I REALLY like about it and they are as follows:

WEIGHT. You know the saying, ounce equal pounds, pounds equal pain? Well the Spartan might just be the lightest accessory you could conceivably attach to any pic rail, rail covers excluded.

The Activation Switches. Not simply slapped onto the unit, the on switch for this laser is exactly in the right spot where your would normally index your trigger finger when not shooting.

Custom Fit. What can only be described as sheer engineering magic, the Spartan features a integrated rail location adapter which allows you to situate the laser EXACTLY where you want it on your picatinny rail.

Auto Shutoff. To conserve battery life, the laser also automatically shuts off after 10 minutes. I cant personally think of a reason why I'd need a laser sight longer than that so for me this feature is a big plus considering how terrible I am shutting things off.

All in all its one of the best rail attached lasers for the money for your 1913 equipped handgun or rifle.
