Most Helpful Positive Review Best inexpensive scope I've found
The Leapers compact 3-12x44 is the best inexpensive optic you can put on an AR or AK platform. I mounted my first two about 6 years ago (before the EZ-Tap illumination), then another a year later. Since then, Ive mounted at least 5 more for friends, family, and self. The scope is clear, bright, an...

Most Helpful Negative Review Hazy glass
When I took the scope out of the box and looked through it, the glass looked dirty. I tried to clean it but then I realized it was on the inside. The glass was very hazy which made the scope unusable. I sent it back for an exchange. I hope the next one is better, if not, I will just get a refund. I ...

Great little scope.

by Me, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 1, 2019
For the money you can't beat it, I used medium mounts, but the included mounts worked fine on another AR even with the A2 sight.

So far so good, clicks on adjustment are nice.

The lit reticle is a bit dime in bright sunlight but you probably wont be using it in bright light.

over all for the money I am really glad a bought it.
Pros:
  • Works as advertised.
Cons:
  • none yet

For the money it hard to beat. The 36 color variants make it great in all types of weather conditions. The optics are quit clear at 100 yards The side focus is also a great feature it is a little on the heavy side. If leapers offered this scope without the lighted reticle to save some weight that would be a good option for some people

Crossbow's illumination lights quit after 1 year. Testested battery and it was fine, replaced battery anyways, then scraped the conductors within the battery case all to no avail. This scope came on a pse tac crossbow and is way to big for a x-bow. I have no idea why pse would put it on one.

Best scope for any AR / AK platform, and many high caliber riflles

by foremanjf, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on July 14, 2016
Clear glass, no internal reflection from illuminated reticle. Easy and sturdy locking turrets for windage and elevation to get and stay on target, zero'd in.

Love the included medium height rings, though some may want high profile rings depending on the rifle. The diamond locking nuts on the rings clamp to the picatinny is better than the UTG lever style. These are rock-solid, I have broke the lever type, but not the hand-tightening thumbscrew or diamond head type like these. Excellent.

Also, at 3x its good to go for moderate CQB to MQB (close to medium range) as it can act as a red dot with a 3x magnifier with a good eye box and fast focus eye bell.
Pros:
  • Everything listed in my description
Cons:
  • None, Made in China, but its really nice
Best Used for:
  • CQB, MQB, LRB

Good Optic, Better Price

by Michael, from VA, United States Written on December 17, 2015
This is not the first Leapers scope that I have owned and it probably will not be the last. I bought this scope to go on my PTR91 F. The rifle is set up as a dedicated marksman rifle now. Now just to fill you in, with my rifle and its heavy barrel, this scope, UTG bipod, and a full mag (20rounds), my girl comes in at 13.8 lbs. Yea, she's portly, but she brings the thunder!! I like using 30mm tubes because it allows me to be able to see thru the scope easier with both eyes open and while wearing my glasses. What do bats and this guy have in common? I like how easy this scope is to use and how well I can use it even with out my glasses (always an SHTF consideration)thanks to the left side AO turret and lighted reticle. Only two complaints I can make are; One is that its heavy and the other is that while having 36 colors of the rainbow makes Skittles jealous, its just too many colors for the average person. I have to believe that even color blind people would find an illumination setting they could use. If you know any color blind shooters, let them try and post a review. To rap up, its sturdy, its clear, and its inexpensive...if you cant find a place for this in your armory or your preparation plan, your doing something wrong!!
Pros:
  • value
  • reliable
  • Cost effective
  • Sturdy, versatile
Cons:
  • weight
Best Used for:
  • Emergency preparedness
  • taget shooting
  • Practicle Applications

Great value-priced scope

by Al, from AZ, United States Written on September 3, 2015
Comes with a lot of features for the money, and seems ruggedly built as well. Included sunshade is a nice touch. Installed this on a .308 HK91 clone and so far it's holding zero despite the potent recoil. Reason for just four stars is haven't had it very long, let's see how it holds up.

excellent on a budget scope

by dnlpgzmn, from CA, United States Written on July 16, 2015
I wanted a nice scope that wouldn't break the bank andsSeeing the other reviews on here i decided on this Leapers. I have not been let down. I mounted it on a Springfield M1A, it went on quickly and was quickly zeroed. Adjustments are simple and i like the 'no screwdriver needed' windage and elevation locks. Eye relief and field of view are pretty good. M1As can be pretty harsh on optics but i've ran about 500 rds through the rifle since and haven't lost zero. The illumination is a nice touch for lower light conditions but in bright daylight all but the brightest settings are washed out, but the black illuminated look great too. All in all i dont really have cons for this piece. I just pop bottles and steel plates at 200-300yds for recreation and it has suited my needs with flying colors.

LOOKS TO BE A GREAT SCOPE. FOR MYSELF JUST THE RED AND GREEN RETICLE WOULD BE ENOUGH, BUT IF YOU LIKE THE DIFFERENT COLORS YOU'LL BE IN HOG HEAVEN. I'M GETTING ON IN YEARS AND LIKE THE EXTRA POWER TO 12. SEEMS LIKE NINE JUST DONT DO IT NOMORE.(YES, IN TEXAS THAT IS ONE WORD)
Pros:
  • Works great for intended purpose
Cons:
  • None

Very good low cost scope.

by Dellecma, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on March 6, 2015
I know a lot of people hate on Leapers UTG for various reasons. I have had great experience with their products. This scope is no exception. The features it offers are outstanding at the price. It is holding up to the recoil of the 308 Winchester rifle it is mounted on. Zeroing was easy.
The one gripe I do have with Leapers is the quality control. Mine did not illuminate when I received it. If you get a scope that is hazy or the cross hairs are jacked up, etc... It is broken. It is not just a crappy scope. Send it back, get a new one and you will be very happy with it.
