If you search on the net for an easy and cheap way to install a scout scope this mount is at the top of the heap. Got this for really cheap with a scope+mount bundle here at OP. Removal of the rear sight was only a 10 minute affair on my 1943 MN because during the rush of the war they didn't bother to solder the rear mount to the MN dovetail. After a quick removal of the rear sight, a fast cleaning of the MN dovetail, this mount went on within minutes. At first the Leapers mount appeared to be too wide to grab the dovetail but in fact it tightened down real tight.
Before installing this new mount, I put a piece of masking tape on top of detail, and then temporarily installed the mount. I then screwed in the 2 set screws so they left some marks on the tape. Remove mount, nail set some points at the locations of the set screw marks on the tape, and then drilled some shallow 3/16" holes to accept the set screws. With that all done, the combination of the mount clamp plus the 2 set screws results in a rock tight mount.
The only flaw I could fine was that the two set screws were not in a straight line but that wasn't much of an issue using the masking tape technique.
Pros: Cheap, Offset feature, set screws
Cons: Set screws weren't inline, maybe a little wide?
