Shooting AR-15 at the Range
Shooting with iron sights at a paper target these days isn't as much fun as it used to be..., like when I was a young Marine 30 something years ago. A 12 inch round target at 100 yards easily hides behind my A2's front sight post. I couldn't even tell if i was hitting the paper at that range anymore. Something had to be done if I wanted to continue to enjoy shooting my AR-15.
So, a couple of months ago while surfing the web, I found the Leapers New Gen 4x20 Combat Style AR-15 Range Estimating Scope with Mil-dot Reticle on Opticsplanet. The review showed promise and the price was certa...

Only for looks
Lucky this is no longer for sale. I purchased mine from a different site where I was buying surplus parts for my ar build.
The mount doesn't fit in the handle. So i had to file the mount down, A Lot, to get it it fit.

Great Retro Looking Old Style AR/M16 Scope
Great addition to my retro 60's-70's style AR that I built, only need to find the era bi-pod and para trooper wrap bag to complete the project.
Pros: Great scope for my retro, triangular handguard AR, looks just like the orginal Colt, with the collector's price tag
Cons: Would be hard to mount in without light at night

Great litte scopes for the money
I have the older version of this scope with the illuminated reticles(which was an un-needed feature). If this scope is anything like the previous models I would highly recommend it as a 'starter' optic if you still want to use your iron sights. The carry handle mount is fully 'look through' and you can leave your irons as is. I've had mine on and off my AR's carry handle multiple times and not had to re-zero it more than 2 clicks up/down at 100 yards. The L-R remained true. Very rugged little scope for the money. In two seasons of tactical matches with pretty rough handling the scope has held its zero. The cross hairs are pretty thick for range estimation. At 300 yards the crosshairs can completely cover an 8 inch target. While the BDC is a neat feature, using hold-over is a lot faster than dialing up the BDC, which is awkward to adjust while 'on target'. This scope would benefit from thick and thin cross hairs. The flip up scope caps that come with it are top notch, but add a bit of bulk, I take mine off for competition.
Pros: price, compactness, weight, lens covers
Cons: heavy crosshairs
