RU4Au's Review of Leapers UTG 8-32x56 Rifle Scope
I bought this scope to see if it would be good enough at the lower price point compared to what I usually get. I did not mount the scope and test it for function, having decided to return it instead. On the Plus side: The controls work as they should... smooth and reasonably of quality construction. It feels robust and generally well made. The knocks on it are as follows: The reticle is too bold for fine shooting at long distance. The optical quality is adequate for shooting in daytime but deteriorates markedly at the edges and worsens as magnification increases or light dims. I could tolerate this up to 20 or 24 power in daytime but beyond this things get so bad as to render the additional magnification worthless. No need for such a large scope if you can't use the range. This is the main reason for rejecting it overall. I will get another brand in a lesser magnification to decrease the size and weight and improve optical quality, or buy a unit with better glass.
Overall, I can't see any reason to have this large scope on a rifle with no advantage over a smaller, clearer scope for the same money. If that much magnification is desired you are just going to have to spend more.
