RetiredGuy66's Review of Leapers UTG Over Bore Bipod

This bipod is really stable and built like a tank. I am surprised that more bipods are not made like this. It has a wide legged base with rubber feet. I do wish there was an option for a ski/sled style or spike feet to give it more versatility. I have friends that laugh when they initially see it because it is so different, but when they actually shoot from this platform they are pleasantly surprised. This bipod can lock into place and has a cant and pan options. With a little adjustment you can use this bipod like a traditional under the barrel picatinny mount if so desired. I think for the money, you cannot go wrong considering similar bipod from European countries are 4x the amount and had to get in stateside. Big pushbutton to adjust the angle of the legs and one handed leg height adjustment is a breeze. Spring retractable legs release with a push of a button. If you want to ditch the bipod in a hurry a twist of the knob and push of the button disconnects it from the fixed versa-pod styled attachment shaft. This mount does not interfere with sight picture in the scope. This is not a compact bipod so when it is folded (only folds in the forward position) the legs will be stowed towards the muzzle.
Pros:
  • Wide stable base
  • Legs lock solidly into position
  • Leg height is spring retractable
  • Cant and Pan options
  • Quick disconnect if needed
  • Cost less that similar designed bipods
Cons:
  • Does not fold rearwards for storage
  • Not a lightweight
  • No factory options to change bipod feet
Best Used for:
  • Long distance accuracy shooting
