Colby Moritz's Review of UTG Pro AR15 Ops Ready S5 Fixed Stock
From the other reviews, it looks like this is frequently purchased by morons. It's a fixed, rifle-length stock for an AR. It does not and should no fit carbine tubes. It does not require a spacer. It does fit standard A2 rifle extension tubes, but fitment WILL vary...the cheaper you go on the receiver extension, the more likely it is to have a tight fit, as your tube is likely out of spec, and this is designed around "Milspec" extensions, so you're getting on Amazon and buying the cheapest thing available, who knows what spec it's made to. I have two of these installed, both on Anderson receiver extensions. Both are a tight but easy fit, which is what you want...installation required no more than setting the stock on its end and pressing it on, allowing the weight of the rifle to do the majority of the work. If your extension is too far out of spec, take off the butt pad before installation...this will allow air to escape easier and assist with install, and if you're still struggling and you refuse to scrap the Chinese extension you bought, you should be able to press the stock on with a little lube...you could use grease, but I'd recommend bubbles...yep, the kind you buy your kids to blow bubbles with, as it lubricates well and completely evaporates with no residue.
Once installed, the stock is very strong and very comfortable. I put this on a 6.5 Grendel build I use for Coyote and Whitetail hunting. I wanted something rigid that would offer consistent shots for years, which is why I went with a fixed rifle stock. I wanted something lightweight and minimalistic, as I don't need a bunch of PRS gimmick features, which is why I chose the UTG Pro, and the $50 price tag certainly doesn't hurt. The riser is really not needed for my scope mounted in a Stoner cantilever mount, but it's easy to remove, and some shooters may find it a bit more comfortable, and while not wildly adjustable, it should do the trick for 90% of shooters. I like that it includes a standard swivel mount for slings for those of us who don't use a tacticool QD sling, and it has a "classic but updated" look to it when installed. Overall I couldn't be more happy with the UTG Pro, especially considering the price point, and it's USA manufactured to boot.
