This is a good item for your AR-15 IF you use an the few Leapers UTG handguards that use this barrel nut, AND you want to reduce the weight by an ounce or two.
Due to the cost of AR-15 handguards in general, I admit I haven't bought many of them. So my experience with a wide array of handguards is limited, along with barrel nuts. But recently I purchased several Leapers UTG handguards, and like them very much. This barrel nut does NOT work with every Leapers UTG handguard. In addition, I'm not sure if this will work with other manufacturers' handguards, but I seriously doubt it....it won't work with any 2-piece drop-in handguard I've seen, and not any Hogue handguard that I've used. So this barrel nut is for a very narrow range of customers.
To be clear, Leapers makes 2 versions of this barrel nut: steel and titanium. The steel version comes standard with many of the handgaurds that use style of barrel nut; the steel version is NOT sold separately. The titanium version comes with only ONE of Leapers' handguards; and of course is also sold separately as seen on Optics Planet.
Both the titanium and the steel version of these barrel nuts are very easy to install and use. It's possible you may encounter problems indexing the barrel nut, but is not likely.
On a side note, this barrel nut is not as easy to install and use as the ones that come with the Leapers Forerunner handguards - there are no indexing issues. In general, the more items I buy from Leapers, the more...
