This holster is exactly what I've been looking for. Made of Italian Leather, molded perfectly for my 442 S&W .38, and provides great concealment for the Law Enforcement Professional. You won't be dissapointed! Great Value! Pros: Price

This Blackhawk holster holds my CCW model 642 Centennial like it was custom made for it. It secures firmly on my belt with two different loops which in fact pulls it snugly for a really good fit. It expands just enough to get my J-frame in and out with ease. I wish I could wear it on duty but with t...

Great holster

by kmoose, from SD, United States Written on June 17, 2018
I use this for my Taurus M 85. The holster was a little tight but after doing the wax paper trick the holster was and excellent fit. When I wear a belt I use this holster otherwise I use a paddle holster. The holster is the right size for my small size frame.
Pros:
  • Good Fit (after break in period)
  • Good fit after break in
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Conceal Carry

Blackhawk speed classic holster

by Gord, from TX, United States Written on December 16, 2017
This is the third speed classic holster I have used. The holster holds the firearm close to the body and is very secure. The draw is forward like a semi-breakfront holster and is smooth and fast. A very good holster with a good price.

Retired American Veteran

by BobbyP, from PA, United States Written on January 25, 2016
The holster is very well made, and after some break-in quite effective. I like the retention capability and the fact the pistol cannot be removed easily from behind or from an attacker, nor accidentally slip from the holster do to strenuous physical activity. I find the holster to be quite comfortable in extended time daily wear.
I found that I needed to practice constantly to properly extract the pistol rapidly and properly by avoiding the natural tendency to pull straight up. I feel that the roll forward action to deploy the pistol may be enhanced by stiffening the aft stabilizing belt attachment tab, although I recognize that the flexibility of the belt is involved in this action. I am considering to purchase a stiffer belt that will accept the holster installation. I would appreciate an input from the holster manufacturer regarding this matter. Would a stiffer belt help? What is the thickest belt to purchase that will accept the holster?

Blackhawk Speed Classic Leather Holster - Plain Black

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on March 18, 2013
Very nice holster, well made. Fits a J-Frame S&W revolver almost to well. Brand new it certainly is not a speed holster. Hoping it loosens up after a break in period.
Pros: Fits a J-Frame S&W revolver very well. Great value for the price. Holds the revolver close to the waste.
Cons: Extremely tight fit. I hope the holster loosens up over time.

I own two Blackhawk holsters for my S&W Jframe. I conceal carry on a daily basis. the holster is very comfortable and I know if I am ever in the situation in which I was forced to draw the gun, it would come out of the holster quickly and safely.
Pros: My J frame fits snuggly in the holster. It is well protected.
Cons: The holster is difficult to get on my belt.

Very nice, but hard to remove gun

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 15, 2013
This is a well made holster and holds my j frame nice and snug. The problem is that it is almost to snug and might cause an issue in a panic situation where the gun would need to be drawn quickly. Hopefully over some time it will break in a little.
Pros: Good quality snug fit.
Cons: Snug fit hard to remove gun.
