Didn't care for the plastic parts
It was OK, but I really didn't care for the yellow plastic parts on the knife. This included the frame around the ferro rod, the whistle, and the frame that holds the sharpener. The yellow plastic looked a bit out of place on the crimson and black knife I had ordered and these parts made the knife...

Why So Expensive???
I’m still trying to figure out why this thing cost more than $100. Very limited usefulness. I wanted this for a bug out bag, but I’m scratching my head wondering why it’s so expensive. I paid less than half this price for my Leatherman Rebar, and it seems higher quality. It’s also more useful. The plastic gadgets take up all the space, and they just seem so cheap. The whistle is too quiet to be of any use at all. Maybe you can get a few uses out of the ferro rod I suppose — it’s very thin. The diamond sharpener may be useful, but it’s very small — will require patience. It’s an okay multi-tool, but the price is ridiculous for what you get.

I was happy enough with the original, but... Wow!
The original Leatherman was so good that I bought one, and later received one as a gift at work. Having two was good, as I've been accustomed to having it on my belt, unnoticed except by TSA at airport screenings, so when I noticed after a terminal check-in, I gave it to an airline agent to give someone for Christmas. This Signal in the crimson and black oxide finishes is elegant! It took me some time to read the little book and check out the blade lock functions, and more. Dad wasn't taken with my original ("Jack of all trades, master of none.") at first, but it came in handy working on the outboard engine on a Montana river. As the original was designed, it's not the tool you want working in the shop, the unobtrusive and lightweight tools that stay with you, available when you need them. Survival gear, as what you wear is what you can count on.
