The Leatherwood scope purchased was indeed a 'less expensive' scope, however the quality of the red dot was so poor that the scope was essentially unusable on any rifle. The red 'dot' was more like a 'red smear'. At best, this scope would help with quicker target acquisition but certainly not for accuracy. Very disappointed.

The first thing I noticed was that this red had stamped on the side in plane sight the words "MADE IN CHINA". At that point I pretty much lost interest in this red dot. Besides that it was way too large in diameter for my AR it just was not the right choice.

First buying from Optics Planet is the right choice. They replaced another scope that would not hold zero free of charge. This Leatherwood was mounted on a railed AK with a skeleton stock and cheek riser.I used a laser bore site to get it adjusted right.Only on extremely glared bright targets is the dot illegible otherwise fine in most conditions. At night it works fine if you have a high powered light mounted on your rifle. You can still see the dot easily at 100 plus yards and the target.I got mine on sale then they raised the price 25 bucks.Still would buy from them again.

The 50mm objective lens is nice for rapid target acquisition. I have mine zeroed at 36 yards, and have a Leatherwood 2.5-10x44 auto ranging trajectory scope on the same rifle. The red dot sight is mounted on a 45 degree offset mount & the many brightness settings make both midday and twilight easy to view & adjust. The unlimited eye relief means it doesn't matter what distance your eye is from the front lens.
Pros:
- unlimited eye relief
- Wide objective lense

I bought this about a year ago for my Airsoft guns worked great for that. I decided to put this on my Dpms Tactical recon Ar-15 and within 100 rounds the lens with the polishing on the front popped out of its socket inside the sight. Full shock proof... Yea right, im getting my money back, if your smart you wouldn't buy this or at least dont put it on anything more than an airsoft gun or .22
Pros: Non, its garbage.
Cons: Everything.

I bought this as my first red dot sight for 2-gun IDPA matches. I put it on a S&W M&P 15-22 and it looks great and works well. The brightness settings are easily adjustable and I have no problems seeing the dot even on the sunniest of days. The objective lens is huge and lets in plenty of light. I really like the fact that it cowitnesses with my iron sights without need of any additional elevation. Although I do like it, if I had my druthers, I'd have bought the model with in the smaller (30mm) size. This one is a bit too bulky. I also wish it had an auto off switch because it's way too easy to forget to turn it off.
Pros: Huge objective lens, cowitnesses with my iron sights
Cons: Weight, no auto off

This looks to be a really great unit for someone that shoots at night. However I don't, so this scope is useless to me. I realize now that I needed a green dot scope. I would really like to exchange it for a green dot.
Pros: Looks to be very well made and easily useable.
Cons: This is a night scope, no good for daytime shooting.

Super-Wide Field-Of-View Is Very Comfortable Both In Single Eye Viewing And Double Eye (Rapid) Sighting. Clear With Installed Covers Up. Less So With Covers Down But Still Useful. Covers Tend To Pop Open Spontaneously When The Weapon Is Fired.
Pros: Large, Clear FOV
Cons: Red Dot On;y, Better If It Had Both Colors

i was looking for a low budget red dot that is could use in low light, after checking several budget ones i decided on this one because of the big aperture of 50 mm since i wanted to be able to keep both eyes open, owning a eotech i can compare and see the difference, but for the price this is a no frills budget decent sight
Pros: easy to use both eyes open specially convinient in low light and best bang for the buck , easy to install , it allso allows my ar 15 flattop to use the iron sights if needed thru the scope , the 50mm is big enough to alow it
Cons: is not able to work under full sunlight

I got one 4 years and put it on my AK47 and had it dead on in 5 shots. Now I shoot 2000 and 4000 rounds a month and have only had to adjust it 1 time. I can soot a quarter at 50yards or hot a 6in target at over 300 yards. This is a good red dot I have #3 I would go to battle with this and bet my life on it!!!
Pros: works well
Cons: dont have one
