MikeV's Review of Hi-Lux Optics Phenom FFP 5-30x56mm Illuminated Rifle Scopes w/CW-3 FFP Ranging Reticle
Worst scope imaginable. Total disappointment; the scope is not clear, The crosshairs are way to thin & blury to distinguish them while looking at a target at 100 yards; even turning it up to 30X. As you turn the power up the crosshairs become more bold so at 15X or 20X its totally useless, even at 30X it's a foggy blur. Shooting at a target at 100 yards you have to turn the scope up all the way to 30 power just to have the crosshairs somewhat distinguishable enough to shoot at the bull's-eye. When you adjust the focal plane to get the target "focused" as you can get it and that's not very well the crosshairs are completely blurred out. So therefore when you try to focus in the crosshairs as best you can the target is totally blurred out, it's not possible to focus them both in at the same time even at 100 yards on any setting. At first glance I knew immediately the scope would be returned. The windage and elevation underneath the crosshairs is blurred and not usable on any setting. After 15 minutes of use the side focus stopped working all together and it was like looking in a fogged mirror. Literally wouldn't want this scope if it were given to me. If I were sent on a mission and I had my choice of the $6.99 pronghorn Tasco at academy or this Phenome I would take the Tasco. Its hard to imagine a worse scope on the market at any price. Complete waste of materials and manpower to produce. Optics planet did give me a full refund
