Most Helpful Negative Review Disappointed
While the product is a direct fit for the Universal Decapping Die from Lee Precision I feel the part lacks the quality that it should have. I honest to God broke 3 of these is 20 minutes decapping a variety of calibers on my Lee Classic Single Stage. The tip of the rod would bend to a point that it would snap when attempted to be straightened. Where is the pride in craftsmanship?

Lee Universal Decapper

by Ryan, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on August 23, 2025
I haven't used the decapping pin on any of my sizing dies for years. After breaking decapping pins using the included pins with either Hornady or RCBS die sets, I found the Universal Decapper from Lee. I used the original one for a number of years and only needed to replace it because I forced it too hard into a case that actually had a smaller case inside it I was unaware of and bent the pin. I was actually able to bend the pin back into place and use it but decided it was time to replace the original pin. For only around $4 I replaced the "bent" decapping pin. These work for all your cases.

Questionable Quality Pin..

by Steven, from WA, United States Written on August 4, 2019
Bought this replacement after mine broke decapping militairy crimped brass. The replacement had a tip turned from what appears to be thin, soft bar stock. Cut with a dull bit and terrible runout. Looks poorly made. Almost broke looking at it.

Reccomend taking the old broken pin and chucking it in a lathe/powerdrill+vice, then reforming the shank for a new pin with a file. Probably can do a better job; quicker, for less.
Pros:
  • uhmm....
Cons:
  • poor finish
  • Soft material
  • overpriced dowel
Best Used for:
  • replacing a shortened/broken pin

Good price for the bang

by Midwest Gun Hawgs, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on November 21, 2016
This is a good product but it is very fragile. I usually 4 or 5 at a time. It's always good to have spares. the one thing that is good about it, is that is universal. One fits all the Lee dies unlike others out on the market.

I bought this product to manually de-prime cases with the thought that someday I will start to reload. This product is perfect for my intended purpose. It is strong and works on both pistol and rifle cases.
