I use this machine for processing deer meat.
Yes, you can buy a meat grinder from The Zon for hundreds of dollars less and that’s what you get. We tried two of the cheaper models first before buying the LEM Big Bite #8. The first overheated/burned up immediately and was sent back and both were so loud they required me to wear my hearing protection headphones and ran everyone else out of the house.
Quiet: The Big Bite #8 is quiet. So quiet that the first time I ran it, the wife came in to ask me when I was going to start grinding so she could leave. I had already been grinding for ten minutes and though she had been in the next room, she had not heard it. This also means if you have help grinding, you can actually have a conversation without shouting, or listen to music.
Speed: This thing is fast. It grinds as quickly as you can feed it and the large top tray means you spend your time grinding meat instead of transferring it to the machine. Where I had to use the stomper during the first grind on the cheaper machines, you only need the stomper on the second grind with the Big Bite. You also do not have to stop every 5 minutes and wait 10 minutes to let it cool down while your meat sits out and heats up. Loaned it to a buddy who ground six deer in one afternoon. Unless you think you need the mixer I can’t imagine why you would ever need more capacity than thee Big Bite #8.
Stuffing Sausage: I have not tried stuffing sausage with this grinder. It is so fast in it...
