For the money, this is a great spotting scope. The glass is clear, and the carrying case is nice enough. The tripod, however, is simply adequate and not as sturdy as I had hoped, but it is functional.

I have used at the range and in the field. At the range could easily see .223 holes on target to 500 yards with little effort. Very clear and easy to use. Can't believe the price for such a quality scope.

It's made in China and I'd rather buy "made in the USA" but for one tenth of the price it allows me to see targets down range for sighting in a scope. While I will probably not purposely abuse this scope, if I had to one take it into the woods where I know damage is almost certain, I'd take this one.

I think I will be able to better view my target at 200 yds with this scope. I recently engaged in a friendly competition at that distance and when I began to have problems my spotting scope was not good enough to view the hits of my .22-250 shoots.

This Leupold 15-45x60 Straight SX-1 Ventana Spotting Scope is exactly what I would expect from Leupold quality! A little larger than I expected but that's no problem with the tripod! Can't wait to get it out in the real fields to test!

The scope has performed well. It sets up easily and finding the target is easy. The fine adjustments allow an easy adjustment to full magnification. The scope cover and dust caps seem to be working perfect.
The supplied tripod performs OK but is either too big or too small. Have switched it out to a much larger camera tripod that sets up well against the shooting bench.
The carry case is a bit of a wimp. Mine has duct tape on it already from a tendency to split open.

I've already been able to ID several long-distance birds that I would not have been able to ID otherwise. The view is quite clear at max magnification. Haven't been able to take it to the range yet but I'm sure it'll do fine, as I have been able to see good detail at 300 yards.
Pros:
- Ease of use
- Clarity
- Good rubber coating
Cons:
- Lens caps are kind of flimsy

Without having any experience in the world of spotting scope, I am very happy with my purchase. I have not been able to take it shooting yet, but I took it out on a camping trip and pointed at the moon. I had never seen so much detail before. I also took it out and pointed it at a couple of signs in the neighborhood. I dont think I would have any issues at the range up to a few hundred yards.
