Leupold VX-3i 6.5-20x50mm Side Focus CDS Riflescope
This will be my 2nd Leupold scope, the 1st being a Varix 2 3x9x40. Glass is GREAT! Clear, easy to focus. With my "OLD EYES", the 20 magnification will come in handy. Plans to install on a Savage 10 6.5 Creedmoor. Will be using for target shooting, long range shooting, as well as deer / pig hunting. Once installed, I'll work up a 'reload', the order the CDS Dial. I've a feeling this will NOT be the last Leupold; DEFINATELY not my last order from Optics Planet. As a 'plug' for them, they have some of the FASTEST shipping I've dealt with.
Great scope. Very clear
Excellent scope. Very clear. Adjustments were very precise. 20X magnification was very nice to have. I could see holes easily at 100 yards with a 22 sized hole. Helps to use a dark target with illumination from behind. The reticle is very very fine. Almost too fine if you have any issue with your eyes at all.
Pros:
- High magnification, USA made, clear, very clear even at night when looking towards a lit area
Cons:
- Reticle may be too fine for thise with even the slightest eye problems
Best Used for:
- Seeing very far away very clearly
Would recommend: Yes
Love the VHR in this scope
Awesome scope. Love the VHR. I've used scopes with this reticle for years hunting varmints and have had older scopes updated with the VHR. The "side focus" (actually parallax) is a big improvement over the adjustment at the objective lens.
Pros:
- Side Focus
- VHR
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Varmint Hunting
Would recommend: Yes
very well recommended
Leupold scopes are from all scope brands I have tested myself, the best ones in my
opinion. You can hate Leupold, you can love Leupold. But you will hardly find any
better scope for your hard earned bucks. What I love about this scope is that it
holds perfectly 0. Even when you use calibers with hard punishing recoil, Leupold
survives them and gives you enough windage and elevation in your turrets.
But also for a 22 lr Leupold is perfect. I love to shoot small 1 shot holes at 100
yards. I have tried even a Nightforce Benchrest rifle scope. It did shoot very well
also but I needed a 20 MOA mount since there was too few windage.
With the Leupold VX-3 I had enough windage and elevation at 100 yards. The guy at
the range who worked there for plenty of years said me that it is impossible to hit
well at 100 yards with a 22.lr and regular standard velocity ammo.
The more he was stunned when I made it to shoot 1/4 MOA groups with 22 lr CCI Standard,
Savage Mark 2 TRR, and Leupold 6.5-20x50 EFR VX-3 regularly. I know it is an old scope but
it works outstandingly well. I had just few money for a rimfire rifle mount so I did go
with a regular BKL 25,4mm mount.
As competitors against this scope I had :
Nightforce NF 8-32x56 Benchrest (1.800€)
Zeiss Victory 6-24x56 (2.400€)
Swarovski 6x42 (500€)
All scopes run out of elevation adjustment at 100 yards.
Only with the Leupold I had enough windage to shoot at that
distance with 22lr without needing a 20 MOA mount ...

great outdoors
Over all liked the scope wished that it had the shorter turrets with the cds. Leupold makes a good quality product. The rings and base can also available in most places so if something happens you are not waiting to get a part. I have not had any issues in the past with any of my Leupold products. If you are looking for a reasonable priced scope these are great scopes.

For my eyes
What you'd expect from Leupold.
Mounted atop of Ruger Target in 308. Fits well.
Easily adjustable knobs. Reticle clear and seams to be accurate at distance.
Clear view.
More than enough for my old eyes.

Scope was everything that I wanted Crystal clear adjustments were straight forward waiting on my cds knob for what I am shooting. Shipping was a disappointment took 7 days to get I think it was between FedEx and Post Office

Best scope for the money
It only costs a little bit more to go first class. Way better than any comparable vortex Optic. Excellent glass, positive click adjustments light weight and 100% confidence in tracking. I even prefer this optic over the Nightforce SHV.

The standard
Excellent in every way. It's packaged very nicely (enough to make it feel special). Glass clarity is awesome. This scope is one that everyone with a vortex or a sightron will have to justify why they bought theirs instead of a vx3i.
