Leupold scopes are from all scope brands I have tested myself, the best ones in my
opinion. You can hate Leupold, you can love Leupold. But you will hardly find any
better scope for your hard earned bucks. What I love about this scope is that it
holds perfectly 0. Even when you use calibers with hard punishing recoil, Leupold
survives them and gives you enough windage and elevation in your turrets.
But also for a 22 lr Leupold is perfect. I love to shoot small 1 shot holes at 100
yards. I have tried even a Nightforce Benchrest rifle scope. It did shoot very well
also but I needed a 20 MOA mount since there was too few windage.
With the Leupold VX-3 I had enough windage and elevation at 100 yards. The guy at
the range who worked there for plenty of years said me that it is impossible to hit
well at 100 yards with a 22.lr and regular standard velocity ammo.
The more he was stunned when I made it to shoot 1/4 MOA groups with 22 lr CCI Standard,
Savage Mark 2 TRR, and Leupold 6.5-20x50 EFR VX-3 regularly. I know it is an old scope but
it works outstandingly well. I had just few money for a rimfire rifle mount so I did go
with a regular BKL 25,4mm mount.
As competitors against this scope I had :
Nightforce NF 8-32x56 Benchrest (1.800€)
Zeiss Victory 6-24x56 (2.400€)
Swarovski 6x42 (500€)
All scopes run out of elevation adjustment at 100 yards.
Only with the Leupold I had enough windage to shoot at that
distance with 22lr without needing a 20 MOA mount ...
