I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. The good bad and ugly
Good: Glass quality is good, not great. Support from a major manufacturer. Made in the USA (quit buying stuff from China!) Nice size. I have non-illum so can't speak to that feature.
Bad: The reticle is like looking at two 2x4s. Great for a hunting optic in dense foliage. Not great for precision. Turrets are average.
Ugly: It's probably over priced for what it is. HOWEVER, I'm willing to pay more for products made in the US by American companies. This optic belongs in the $450-499 range. Finally, you get 5.6 mils of elevation. Full stop. That's plenty to get you to roughly 800 yards with mo...

Leupold 4-12x40 mark3 HD tmr red dot.
Excellent scope with very good features. The utility it provides makes the scope a great value.
However the instructions provide with the scope lacked how to set the zero stop.

The scope is crisp, bright and clear. It’s rather compact for all the capability it has.
On the other hand the cross hairs are a little heavy and not very crisp.
The instructions for adjusting the zero stop elevation cap could have more details on
the how to set an elevation. The red dot is crisp and bright.
Overall it is a very good design with good quality and features.

Bought for a lightweight AR platform
I have about a dozen of the Leupold 5HD Duplex reticle with the firedot. I absolutely love the firedot option (aim small miss small). I did not want to put that large of a scope one this particular rifle but was looking for a light weight alternative and came across this scope. I brought is to the range, clarity is good (there is obviously better) but at this price point I was satisfied. You can make the firedot bright but I use the low setting where the is a really small dot. I wish I could send pics of the target because after sighting it in it shoots hole in hole. Obviously There is alot more factors that go into getting a gun to shoot like this but I am satisfied and would buy again for another light weight option.

Second ar with leupold scope for a reason.
If you're never though there isn't a huge difference in optics quality depending on manufacturer and price you've never been able to afford one! Save your money and buy quality brand products! Lens clarity, construction quality and product durability will convince you.
