Most Helpful Negative Review Leupold mark 4 ert m5
BIG disappointment! Glass is okay only five mils per rev for 1600 dollars and clicks are non existent , tracking and scope taking adjustments was unpredictable. Scope cost me 400 more than nightforce shv f1 mil scope and my nightforce blows it out of the water. I have used Leupold all my life for hu...

Leupold Mark 4 ER/T

by JB, from MI, United States Written on June 2, 2017
Very well overall build as to be expected from Leupold. I gave 4 stars because I noticed the turrets do not stop exactly on the indicated spots on the M5 turrets when dialing and I have heard of others having reticle tracking issues with some Leupold long range scopes. I have not taken it to the range to confirm if there is an issue yet, but I have dealt with Leupold customer service before and although they can be somewhat slow on their turn around, they are always very helpful so I don't expect it to be an ongoing issue if there is a problem.

Just what I needed for my rifle.

by Frank, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 5, 2017
I was looking for an optic for my 17s and this was the right answer. Not too big and just enough magnification (maybe too much) for a semi-auto 308. The clarity of the glass is crisp and can easily make out game at dusk and dawn. I am very happy with this scope
Pros:
  • Clarity
  • Size
Cons:
  • None

Buy once cry once

by Absolutezer0, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on December 22, 2016
I was looking for a optic in the mid level range we all want a Schmidt&Bender PM 2 but was well out of my price range. This was my first optic at first I was a little nervous after seeing some videos on it having unreliable tracking. After testing I found the tracking to be accurate and correct. The detentes are loud and firm so you know when your doping in what you need. The glass is really clear with minimal distortion at the edges when you get to the maximums of the eye box but for the price range I am really happy with the quality.
Pros:
  • Cost effective
  • Good Entry Level Scope
  • Good Turret Tracking
Cons:
  • Tight Magnification Adjustment
  • No Parallax Adjustment In Range
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Entry Level Mid Range Shooting

Clean it up Leupold!

by Notee Van Bro, from NM, United States Written on September 16, 2015
I had the scope for about two weeks but didn’t mount it. So I can’t opine on how it actually performs on its primary intended use.
Anyhow, I checked out the different kind of birds in the yard, neighbor activities & such. Then, however, I gave it a good look thru from the front under proper lighting conditions & what did I discover? There were several particles visible on the first lens inside the scope! You even see them against the sky, when looking from the front.

Recalling just the last praises I’ve read on the interwebs about an L&S facilities tour, where something as a “clean room” for assembly was mentioned, I thought that this is kind of a joke.
To make it short, at that price point and given the alternatives out there, I become increasingly un-humorous and instead of being inclined to chime in to the praises of the great L&S guaranties & customer service, I’ll go ahead and rather have to praise the retailer here for their generous return policy.
Btw, aside from that it seems to be all what it claims to be. Therefore, 2 out of 5 stars.
Pros:
  • solid feel to the adjustments
  • clean design of reticle
Cons:
  • particles inside
Best Used for:
  • quality control training

You pay for what you get and this is great...

by DedHed, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on March 23, 2015
Front focal plane is the way to go to get the most accurate ranging out of your scope's reticle. You just might forget you had the magnification turned up, with this scope put at any power do your range estimate and go to town. Bought an aftermarket anti reflection device and it screwed in like it should, but that was a quality piece too. The lens caps from Leupold were a great bonus as I was expecting to have to buy some, didn't know they came with scope.
Pros:
  • Quality, ruggedness
Cons:
  • None

Limited time behind optic, but what I see I like

by Timmy, from NY, United States Written on February 2, 2015
Let me first say I don't have a ton of hrs behind this optic, but from what I have experienced I am impressed so far. It has generous eyebox/eye releif, great range estimation at any magnification. Seams fairly rugged but don't plan on dropping it in the future. keep in mind it does has a 50th bell so pay attention to what rings you purchase, super low ring may not work for you!
Pros:
  • eye box/eye relief
  • range estimation
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • tactical use (maybe durablity concerns)

Leupold Mark V Front Focal

by Robert, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on March 12, 2012
My first scope of this type but not my first Leupold. In fact, over the years I have ended up buying only Leupold scopes (and I have owned them all). Great quality and guarantee. I like the front focal feature which is superior to distance scopes that are set for use at a specific power. I mounted on a pic rail with LaRue guick detach mount; makes it easy to replace with a low power scope for close shots.
Pros: mil dot changes with power of scope, clarity of lenses, great for identifying target
Cons: strictly a long distance scope
