Steve's Review of Leupold Mark AR MOD 1 3-9x40mm P5 Dial Rifle Scope
Let me start off by saying I prefer high quality items.. Especially when it comes to glass(binos, spotting scopes and rifle scopes) In the Past I've tried high end(read:expensive) rifle scopes.. But in recent years I've come to realize that the lower cost scopes(200-400) are 80% of the expensive scopes for 30-40% of the cost...
Now Onto the Leapold Mark AR line up: I own the 1.5-4x20mm, the 4.5-14x and the one we'll talk about today the 3-9x40mm.
The reason I love this line is you get extra features over the other lower priced scopes with no increase in price.. Whether it's their superior glass clarity, awesome audible turrets, the Mil reticle, the light weight or the Kill price... I dont know but something about this line they hit a home run.
Now a bit of backround.. I don't own alot of rifles. Mainly ar15s. I enjoy highly accurate rifles so most of them are set up for precision over door kickin.. On one, I have the Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x... Very high end, nice scope... But it also cost around 1200... Now as great as the scope is. I bought the Mark AR for right below 300 with a series of discounts and deals.. Now for those that failed highschool math,Thats roughly 1/4 the price of my Mark 4.. In other words my Mark 4 cost 400% more.. Now is the Mark 4 four times as great? Frankly No.. I find them to be nearly identical minus the tube size and weight... Everything else is nearly identical
