I bought this controller and a camera for it (RC1) based on Leupold's reputation for excellent quality and optics. Boy, am I disappointed. The system seems to be designed by someone familiar with twenty-year old engineering, not modern communications practice. Ability to control is near zero: this is a downloader, primarily. In no ways does it really control the camera. Mechanical design is clunky... All-in-all a disappointment. I bought the camera through DVOR, and the controller directly from Optics Planet. DVOR offers limited info on the camera (like, a controller is required!). Without the controller I could not tell if the Camera worked, so I had to invest more money to find the camera is worthless (the infrared does not work: I want photos of night animals, not my kids and grandkids). If there were a zero rating, I would award one here.
Pros: Weatherproof
Cons: Camera doesn't work; no means to verify camera function from Controller; no option for bluetooth or other communication without opening up both pieces

THE BATTERY IN MY UNIT NEEDED CHARGING REGULARLY AND AFTER 10 MONTHS, ONLY LASTS A COUPLE OF HOURS ON A CHARGE. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A REPLACEMENT BATTERY ONLINE. I'LL HAVE TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GET ONE.
Pros: GOOD NIGHT VISION PHOTOGRAPHS
Cons: BATTERY NEEDS CONSTANT RECHARGE
