Leupold SX-5 Santiam HD 27-55x80
I've been guiding big game hunts in CO for 25 years now and have looked through about every brand of scope you can imagine. For the price, I don't think you can get a better piece of glass. This scope is one of the best I've ever used in low light situations. I have been able to count points on bucks and bulls two miles away. Every aspect of this scope is second to none. I think my favorite feature of the scope is the ability to change the power or zoom of the scope and still stay in focus on your animal. The only con I have found is the scope cover. Leupold build top quality scopes
I’ve had a Leupold scopes for 48 years. My son has had one for going on 40 years. They hold their clarity equal to higher end scopes and are extremely durable. Many other quality have to have to have seals replaced and to be recharged. Leupold scores are hard to beat.

Spotting Scope

Santiam HD 27-55x88
This spotter is a tank. Great glass and great quality build. For the money you can’t go wrong. The Leupold is better than my older Meoptia for sure and with a lifetime warranty. BUY IT! The zoom only going to 55x for a large spotter is kinda crazy. However looking through it side by side with my 60x smaller Meopta, it’s all become very clear. At 55x you don’t get the darker picture and that’s super smart and saves me time at distance with the Leupold.

Outstanding optics
The Leupold SX-5 Santiam 27–55x80 is a great spotting scope, if weight is not a big concern. The optical quality is superb, especially in low light conditions. With the Leupold spotting scope, I can see wildlife in very low light that I can’t see with my aging bare eyes. I have owned 2 other spotting scopes before this, but neither one was very clear at the highest magnifications, and useless in low light . The Leupold is crystal clear through its entire range. As expected, the tradeoff for the large light-gathering optics is a bit more heft in the backpack. Well worth it to be able to spot wildlife in dusk and dawn.
