I bought this Leupold VX 2 2-7x28 ultra light scope for my Marlin 1894 rifle and for me it is a perfect match. In my opinion this scope is the perfect size for many types of lever action rifles.Light (8.2oz) and compact (9.9") with good field of view (41.7' @ 100 yds.) at low power (2) for woods hunting and higher power (up to 7) for longer shots. I plan on buying one for every lever gun I own.
Cons:
- Leupold needs to make this scope in VX3

Great product with very fast shipping. I was looking for a lightweight rifle scope for a lightweight rifle. As always I turned to Leupold. very glad that I did! Compact and I like the looks and customer service from Leupold.

Put this scope on my new Ruger American Ranch in 300 blackout. Works perfectly. Could not be any clearer. Zeroed scope in 3 shots at 100 yards with all 3 shots on a nickel. Windage and elevation knobs are crisp and tight and do not move. Scope is extremely light and you barely notice it on the rifle. Finish is excellent. Reticle is sharp and easily focused even for one whose sight is not near what it use to be. Will be getting another for my 243.

I like the small size of the scope, especially the smaller 1.4" ocular bell which allows low mounting on guns with a high bolt lift. Optics are good but not as good as the Leupold VX-3 scopes I normally use.
IMHO the only real negative on this scope is the lack of a lock ring on the European style focus adjustment. I prefer the older style focus adjustment w/lock ring as used on the older M8 scopes. The European style fast focus is an answer to a problem that doesn't exist for me but would be acceptable if it had a locking mechanism (I used a small strip of black PVC tape to lock the ocular bell in place after focusing).
Service from Optics Planet was excellent.

Installed on my Ruger model 77/44 magnum rifle.....I wanted a scope that I could mount with the supplied ruger medium rings and the bell wouldn't interfere with the fold down rear leaf sight.....this one fit the bill......it looks and functions great.

Nothing on my guns but Leupold. Have been all over the world and even dropped one down a flight of stairs. Picked it up, brushed it off and kept on using it. Perfect zero everytime. Availability and ruggedness in these products are aweaome.

great optics, clear edge to edge, lightweight, perfect for my ruger American 7mm-08. I mounted to rifle using Leupold rifleman rings. I used to other brands of scopes, but after getting my first Leupold and seeing how much better it is than the competition I will be buying more.

Great for compact and light weight....magnification range quite useful for 22 Hornet, on Ruger 77/22. Balances well on rifle. Excellent sight picture w/standard duplex reticle. But lack of finger controls on turrets ,and optics that do not match several other brands(like Nikon) in $300+ price range prevent a 5 rating.
Pros: 2-7x power range; light and compact;
Cons: no finger controls for windage, elev. ; eye relief ave.

Good clarity including at edge of field of view.
Magnification range, FOV, and compact size just right match for light .22 Hornet varmint/turkey rifle I mounted it on.
The only thing I would have liked that wasnt available on this sight was a choice of reticles, which Leupold doesnt yet offer on this model.
Still, the standard duplex reticle is a good choice.
Pros: Clarity, magnification, size, weight
Cons: Only one reticle available
