After spending quite some time looking at different rifle scopes for my Ruger gunsight scout rifle and Trying a few different configurations with different scopes. I decided to try the Leupold VX 2 4-12x50mm and i’m really happy that I did The clarity and light gathering ability are truly impressive for the price point and class that this scope is in . I own vortex, Nikon, Redfield, to name just a few and I have to say Leupold is hands down my favorite that I own..just a heads up if any one is mounting this scope to a ruger scout rifle with xs-sight rail You’ll need extra high rings for clearance of the 50 mill objective.

I love the scope. It fits my gun perfectly can’t wait to get in the field and hunt with it. Leupold has never disappointed me yet. My salesman at optics planet was extremely helpful and made it very easy to get exactly what I want and need.

The scope came as advertised. It is appealing visually. Very well designed. Clear and vivid, seems to gather light well but I have not tried it in a low light setting. Seems sturdy. Let’s see how it holds up.

Mounting Space is not something I had ever heard of until I bought this scope for my new rifle. I bought a Remington 700 Long Range in 30-06. I thought this scope would be the perfect fit, pun intended. However, as I was installing the scope I realized I did not have enough tube "real estate" to get the rings to fit the scope. I have ended up sending this scope back and doing a lot of research to find out why the scope would not fit. What I learned is on long-action rifles that use a two piece mounting base, you will need to check the manufacturers dimensions for the "Mounting Space" to ensure a proper fit. I returned to the Leupold website and looked at a lot of their scopes to find one that has enough space to fit my rings and base (not many). Having to go down to a 40mm bell to get the extra length needed. All of the 50mm scopes were too short. OpticsPlanet has been great to deal with, the return was very easy. Just waiting for my replacement scope so I can get to the range to test the new system.

Like all my Leupold scopes it was spot on. I had contacted Optics Planet about the new Athlon scopes and was informed it was an American Company. I ordered the 6-24 model and when it arrived was disappointed with the MADE IN CHINA stamp on the bottom of the scope. Planet Optics was very helpful in returning the scope and helping me find a Leupold in my price range. The VX-2 's clarity was better than the Athlon and it's 4-12 magnification very adequate for my aging eyes. I know most lens are manufactured in Asia, but Leupold must buy the high end lens as the clarity is excellent. My scope has the long range mil-dot reticle and I haven't had a chance to try the ballistics for the 308 716 patrol rifle on a long range yet, but it tracks true on the short range I have access to. Leupold still builds all it's scopes in America. Maybe one day I can put out the bucks for one of their high end scopes. This product you will very pleased with.

I'm very pleased with the Leupold Scope, I have 4 on other rifles. The service was excellent from Optics Planet. Have no regrets will buy again and have recommended to 2 friends which have purchased scopes from this company with added success.

with it having a life time warranty you cant go wrong.
also Leupold has been a quality company for quite awhile.
the scope is crystal clear and you can feel the quality that went into building it.

Leupold never disappoints! A1 product like always!!! This is being mounted on a Remington 700 .223, I had one in the past that was a tack driver. Leupold will only Bring your accuracy to the next level!

I got the silver finish. Looks great. Nice eye relief. I put it on my browning x bolt. You will need the high rings due to the 50mm lens.
I got it on sale on OP good price. The vx2 doesn't have all the bells and whistles but the gun is used for hunting, not sub MOA shooting at 600y
Nice clear view, I will be sighting it in soon, I'm sure I will have no problems.

This is one of the best scopes on the market today and works great in low light.
