Not enough elevation adjustment - Leupold VX-3HD 1.5-5x20mm Rifle Scope, 1" Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

Mounted this scope on a Henry then on a Ruger. Neither of these scenarios allowed for enough elevation adjustment. Had to add shims to the back ring. (Not a good practice). Never had to do this before. I purchased two of these scopes. I have had to add shims to both scope and ring set ups. The elevation adjustment is a spring loaded button that you push in and turn (really cool). However, it only has 3/4" turn total. Still trying to get it to work. Just purchased another 3x9 standard rifle scope, hopefully no issues.
