I did not buy this for an AR. This went on a heavy recoil rifle where I needed low magnification, and I can dial up a bit. 5x is plenty, farther shots at teeth or horns would be unwise. 24mm is the limit of exit pupil at these magnifications. The glass is perfect, clarity perfect. Size is rather large compared to 1" and it weighs more than a Leupold in 1". Mass of the scope might be an issue with recoil, but so far so good. I expect the scope to hold up under recoil with normal amount of shots for a large caliber, and me banging it a little on hunts. I do not need illumination of the cross hairs for the intended hunting. Tried that, just an extra to worry over.
