A good scope - Leupold VX-6 4-24x52mm Side Focus Custom Dial System Scope

Although I haven't been able to hunt my new scope yet there are some really nice features. The optics are clear and bright even at dusk. The boone and Crockett reticle is very handy but slightly big. I would prefer a reticle with slightly finer crosshair but not as fine as the varmint-hunters. This reticle is good for hunting but not that great for precision shooting at longer ranger 300+yds. The varmint hunters is great for target work and small critters at long ranges but too hard to see in thick brush and low light conditions. In my experience the mil-dot reticle in my Leupold Mark2 is one of the best for all around use. The second issue is the scope has 1/4"MOA adjustments I would have liked a 1/8" for long range shooting. The scope is big but not too heavy compared to my 4.5x14 VX3. Excellent clarity throughout the magnification range. A bit difficult to get the 34mm rings not as popular as the 1inch and 30mm.
