I can no longer use that as an excuse for missing the gong. This beautiful VX-6 just replaced my budget spotting scope! The exceptional clarity and sharpness at all magnifications is astounding. But it's what I've come to expect from the number of Leupold rifle scopes I've owned over the years. While this scope is by far at the top-end of my scope budget, it certainly did not disappoint. I will do a more in-depth comparison to my Vortex Golden Eagle, but the optics are every bit as good, if not better. I'm very pleased with the TMOA Plus reticle. Wind adjustments are a snap, no need to move the windage dial.
Do I wish it would have come with a 3" sun shade like the competition? YES. But the $50.00+ purchase was worth it.
I'm troubled that it is no longer available from Leupold. It's a tremendous product. I recommend it and would definitely buy it again.

Very very good optics, unbelievably light and lifetime warranty, how could you get any better! Even at full magnification the scope is bright and clear. Leupold makes some of the very best scopes and I think they are still very reasonably priced.

I wanted a high zoom do-all scope that would serve well for intermediate load development, act as a spotter, and get me out to at least 1000yds. I struggled with choosing this versus the lower powered Mark 5, as this had the top end zoom, the reticle I preferred, and more common tube size for mounts and accessories. I was afraid the turrets on the VX-6 would be a let-down when it came to dialing, and they absolutely were. I loved everything else about the image color, contrast, resolution, and brightness, and the other adjustments were great. To me, the turrets felt spongy, with a slight amount of backlash, click spacing too close, and the turret marking on the elevation was difficult to line up with the witness mark on the body in a hurry. I had not used the CDS option in the past, but I didn't like the idea of making a load specific turret, as bullet and powder availability change, new products are introduced, and even a proven load can track differently in weather. Then I learned that Leupold will send you a tall target turret marked in MOA in place of your CDS option for nothing! It transformed my scope into exactly what I wanted. The new turret fits and blends to the scope body perfectly, is far easier to read and grip, and improves the click feel by a factor of ten. I own three of these fine scopes on heavy rifle setups for long range shooting, a .308, a .300 WinMag, and a 6.5 Creedmoor. I own another scope that cost 50% more and have used others that cost 2 and 3 times more yet this is still my go to scope for extreme distances. I just cannot believe how fine and clear the target is. Decades ago I competed exclusively with iron sights up to 1000 yards. Unfortunately my 20/15 vision is long long gone and optics are my only option now. I tried many scopes before this one having managed a Gun Shop for several years, and this is still the nicest one I have ever handled! It inspires great confidence when your equipment is proven quaility.

Seemed to track ok. Turrets did not have a very pronounced click or feel when moved. Rubber gaskets on turrets would fall off when firing and are hard to find on the ground. Think they could have done better than that for the price. If you can deal with the issues on the turrets,it is a good scope. But think you could do better for the price.

This is a great scope! No matter the power it is crystal clear and has a perfect focus. Another big bonus was the scope caps and cover in the box. Only scope I ever had that I could see .223 holes easily at 100 yds. No need for a spotting scope now!

I purchased one of these for a match .308 rifle I compete with at 1000 yards and this scope has completely spoiled me! OMG! The power and clarification are fantastic. I loved it so much I purchased a second one for my Remington 5R rifle in .300 Win-Mag, and then a third one for a custom built 6.5 Creedmoor rifle that I shoot out to 1,500 yards. My confidence level is very high when using this very fine Leupold scope, and the lifetime warranty that Leupold has on all of its scopes gives me great assurance that I will never have to worry about replacing them. I cannot imagine shooting with anything else, and I attended a shooting school once that used some very fine very expensive optics, and they were quite nice, but at two to three times the cost still they still could not compare at 1000+ yards...

I had one of the first 7-42 4 years ago. The parallax broke after little over 50 rounds.Leupold fail to fix on three tries and I got my money back. I loved the lightweight and the brightsharp glass. 4 years later I installed a new very heavy barrel and my F-TR rifle that made it overweight at 18 lbs 8 OZ 6 OZ. So with this scope and lighter bipod I am 2 OZ underweight. I like the TMOA Plus Reticle with the hollow center helps me place my shoots. I am at 127 rounds with no problems I really like this scope.

The amount of zoom is outstanding!!! The clarity is really phenomenal. Its construction feels solid and the look is amazing, and since its a Leupold the accessories are many. You also get a free CDS turret when you have figured out your ammo!

Had a good deal with the scope before they up the price. Glass is superb and crystal clear. It's a LEUPOLD!!..Audible clicks is positive and recognizable. Only downside for me is, it is a second focal plane scope and no illumination. But other than that, this scope will compete with other scopes on the same category if not better.
