First off let me start by saying that I own seven, high end, and mostly satisfactory Leopold scopes, that were all purchased through Optics Planet.
Predicated this fact, I looked foreword with great expectations to receiving this one.
The day it arrived, I opened the Leupold factory sealed box to discover the following.
First off,the scope appeared to had been just tossed in to it. The customary protective packaging was completely absent. Because of this the finish was damaged in several places as well as being smeared with gold ink that had rubbed of the owners guide.
Looking through the scope for the first time revealed that the reticle had several pieces of some kind of chips or dirt on it which could obviously not be removed by the end user. The zoom adjusting ring was so tight it virtually
took the serious effort of a two hand grip to twist it. Obviously, the scope was immediately returned to Optics Planet for the replacement which I now have. (It's the 3x18-50 version.)
At least this one works properly, but guess what. It came out of the box with a large scratch on the tube. After all this frustrating nonsense I've decided to just keep it.
However,,, rest assured I will not (And I don't care if it's made in America) be purchasing any additional Leupold products. For the prices that Leupold command, this is no longer a quality product line. By the way, If you do decide to get one, Good luck finding Leupold rings that fit it.
Pros: Great design concept, A wide ranging 4 to 24 power scope
Cons: Absolutely horrible quality control.
