Golden Ring Delivers Again

by Matt S., Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on August 30, 2018
Overall a pretty great optic for the price.

VX-Freedom line seems to offer solid quality at a very reasonable price.

I wanted to try the new Rimfire Precision competitions I have been reading about so I picked up a used 10/22 and after swapping the stock for the Magpul one, went looking for a decent optic that wouldn't cost more than the rifle setup.

I really like the Rimfire MOA reticle. I have shot 2 local "competitions" with this setup and so far it does everything I need.

I would be willing to pay a bit more for a "Firedot" model so hopefully that is something Leupold adds down the road, whether it is in the VX-Freedom Line or VX3i line
Most Helpful Positive Review leupold vx freedom
Great scope for the price. Arrived very quick and in good condition. Put it on a 7mm mag within few shots lined up and ready to go.Would purchase again. Looking forward to hunting season. highly recomend
Most Helpful Negative Review dissapointed
I've sent this back and I'm having to wait for a replacement now. Windage broke before I could even zero this scope the first time. Praying this was one in a million lemon from Leupold. I've owned and used a VX2 scope for over 20 wonderful years so highly dissapointed by this immediate failure. ...

Adequate optic

by Earl, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on January 11, 2026
For the cost I thought it would be better. Perhaps this is just because its in the lower price range. I'm not sure. This is my 2nd Leupold and I want to love them but I don't. They are adequate.

VX-Freedom 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope

by Joseph Frazier, from NY, United States Written on December 30, 2025
I have many Leupold scopes on my rifles, shotguns and muzzleloaders, but this is my first VX-Freedom. I have never had any issues with them. Optics Planet ships in appropriate packaging and it arrived ahead of schedule. No complaints.

This an awesome scope i got the hunt-plex reticle and really like it. I just ordered a second one to put on my Marlin model 60. I will be buying 1 more for my 30-06 hunting rifle and will recommend these to anyone looking for a new scope.
