SOT's Review of Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope, 1 inch Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)
Recently mounted this rimfire version with the MOA reticle on the Ruger custom shop 10-22. It is not a dialer. It is sight it in and don't touch. The dials are mushy and not distinct. After you fire a shot and go to adjust you can't really tell when the first click takes place.
That being said this scope is pretty awesome. For the money the glass is excellent. I was pretty blown away.
I know, I know, an MOA scope on a 22 LR. But wait. Shooting the Ruger was boring at 50 yards. Pretty much one hole.
Shooting at 100 yards pretty boring.
Moved to 150 yds. The match ammo I was shooting(found a great deal at SG ammo) did not have the ballistics on the box. Looked up on line and there was a 21.6 drop at 150 yards. I held 14 MOA over and bam!!!!!! It was freaking awesome. Wow does the wind effect that bullet. Then I had fun for the next two hours. The wind was very variable that day. Tried Kentucky windage. Tried shooting in the lulls. Tried shooting with tail wind. Dang fun! Shot a whole brick before I knew it.
Buy this scope. Sight it in. And don't touch it.
It is one of those scopes that when you are sighting in you turn, and no difference, you turn and no difference, and then you turn and then it moves 6 inches. A little frustrating but in the end a great scope for the money.
