Vx-r patrol - not worthy - Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25-4x20mm Illuminated Riflescope

I purchased the VX-R Patrol 1.5x4 for a new AR set-up but I never even mounted the scope.
This was my first Leupold and unfortunately I had two issues, the on-off/brightness button and the red dot location.
I found the on-off button to be a cheap design that didn't work consistently. It was a pain to use and compared poorly to a dial type control. The performance was also questionable as often it took more than one "press" to get the intensity to scale up or down, or even turn on.
The red dot was not centered precisely and was slightly to the right of the center-point of the crosshairs. I don't know how they could miss this at the factory, very poor workmanship IMO. (I am also not the first to recognize this error so if they did a recall it was not effective.)
I returned the item after about 3 days of playing with it. It was too expensive an item ($500+) to have these issues.
Thanks to Optics Planet the return process was painless.
I'm not sure I'll ever look at Leupold products the same way.
A positive note - the glass was clear and bright, they did a good job on the optics - hence the 2 star rating.
