Best bang for your VX-3 buck
The industry keeps trending to massive objective lenses, but really this is all you need. VX-3 quality, fantastic Leupold customer service, and a great little scope. I put this on my off-the-shelf, low-end Remington 700 in .308 and have taken cull deer with clean headshots. Excellent little scope.
Due to a sale and rebate combo, I'm adding a VX-3 3.5-10x40 to the mix, which will probably end up on the 700 while this one will end up on a future Browning BLR .308 lever action, since starting with a lower zoom level makes hunting in brush easier and makes me more comfortable when dangerous gam...

Excellent scope for the money
I mounted this on my browning mirco medallion 284. It just fits this rifle like it was meant to be. Leupold don't make many scopes that are gloss finish. It did not weight the rifle down much as a larger scope would. The glass is clear. Site in was simple.

Leupold VX-3
I purchased this scope for a Browning BLR to be used primarily for elk while hunting in dark timber. It fits and compliments the rifle well and provides the clarity and eye relief that I expected. Coupled with the Black Friday sale and the Leupold rebate I will have $250 in this VX-3, a super bargain for the quality of scope it is.

Great scope for size and $
I own several of this model Leupold scope. It's small size, light weight, low profile, good hunting power range, high quality glass, and great Leupold warranty make it an awesome scope. I highly recommend!

Perfect scope for deer hunting
I now have this scope on all three of my rifles. Always work well in the woods, even in early morning lighting conditions. Perfect size to compliment my preference for smaller, shorter barrel guns. Best scope you can get for the money.
Pros:
- Reliable, durable, safe, dependable.
- Sized perfect
- Clarity/brightness is outstanding
Cons:
- None

CQH (Close Quarter Hunting)
I have 5 Leupold scopes. Four are the older Vari-X III versions. Great scopes. The new VX-3 has the same great optics (as far as these old eyes can tell) but the elevation and windage adjustments don't have that real positive click like the older version did. For that reason I didn't give this scope 5 stars.

Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36
Nice clear optics, compact size, what a nice scope. I am using this on a contender pistol, (.17 wsm, little to no recoil) and it works great. It's hard to beat a Leupold for quality and price. I may buy the alumina scope caps as I have used them in the past, I just wish they were not so expensive.

Nice Optics
Very good quality scope. Would have liked the reticle to be a little darker for my eyes, but it should work well overall. Easy to focus and the field of view is excellent. Picked up light well in low light situations.

Leupold vx-3 2.5-8x36
This is an excellent scope and opticsplanet is awesome to deal with. All of my optics purchases come through these guys. I really can say enough good about this site, prices are very good when coupled with many of the coupons and shipping is always fast. This scope fates right up there with my Zeiss Conquest. You would need to spend several hundred more dollars to get a better riflescope. To me this scope marks the point of diminishing returns. Up to this scope you get a good return for you money, an after this scope the extra money doesn't buy a lot more. May very well be the perfect hunting scope.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- Best warranty in the business
- Low light performance is excellent
- Click adjustments are solid and audible
- Smaller objective allows lower mounting
- Clarity/brightness is outstanding
- Built in method of ranging deer-sized game
- Knowledgeable
- Finish is very durable
- Options to customize reticle, turrets, etc
Cons:
- Factory turrets have no zero reset
Would recommend: Yes

Perfect hunting scope?
This is the first leupold I've owned, and I finally see what all the fuss is about.
No fancy features, but it's very lightweight, has an impressively crisp picture, and very nice fit and finish.
I have it mounted on a compact tikka t3, and they look like they were made for each other.

Leupold's VX-3 2.5-8x36mm is one of the best hunting scopes in their lineup!
This is the third Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36mm scope that I have purchased and used and just like the others it has not disappointed me in any way. They are affordable, reliable, sized right for any rifle, light enough for any rifle, have excellent eye relief at any magnification, have a very forgiving eye box, and have a very useful magnification range for just about any hunting situation except for those who routinely need to take very long-range shots. The optical quality is excellent considering the price you pay for this scope. You get all of this, plus you have the Leupold Lifetime Warranty to fall back on if you ever need it, which in my experience is very unlikely. But hey, piece of mind is certainly worth something by itself.
In my experience this is a very safe go-to choice when choosing a scope for a hunting rifle for the majority of situations, and the only time I believe a person would really benefit from another scope on a hunting rifle is if a larger objective was actually needed or more magnification was needed for very long-range shots. Most folks I have met tend to purchase based more on wants and perceived needs rather than actual needs. If you want high-quality and are in touch with what you actually need rather than what the latest Internet forum tells you, then it would be very hard to go wrong with one of these scopes for a general purpose hunting rifle.
