TB's Review of Lone Wolf Arms AlphaWolf Glock 43 9mm Threaded Barrel, 1/2x28

The barrel itself seems fine. Probably worth a 5 star rating. However, there is a problem with at least one major manufacturer's pistons for threaded Glock 43 barrels.

A typical piston makes contact with the shoulder of the barrel at the base of the threads. The Glock 43/X/48 barrels have such a narrow shoulder that it does not provide a desirable contact surface. Many manufacturers make a specific piston for this model. The piston has an internal collar that makes contact with the muzzle instead, providing an adequate contact surface.

In the case of the Alpha Wolf barrel, the threads are not quite long enough for the muzzle to make contact with that internal collar as intended. Instead, the rear of the piston contacts the insubstantial shoulder of the barrel first, thus creating the same issue as a standard 1/2x28 piston.

Clearly, the SiCo barrel has just enough thread for the muzzle to make contact first, as designed. Other brands may or may not. The Alpha Wolf does not. It's a matter of a few thousandths of an inch, but it's enough to be a problem.

In short, the barrel seems fine, but if you opt for a 43 specific piston as is recommended by and available from many companies, be sure your muzzle makes contact with the piston and not the shoulder.
Pros:
  • Quality
  • button rifling
Cons:
  • Does not work properly with SilencerCo AC1753 piston
  • May not work properly with other Glock 43 specific pistons
