Better then expected... - Lyman Gen 5 Digital Powder System 115/230V

I wanted to buy this when Lyman had the old DPS III. By the time I figure I would purchase this, they came out with this Gen 5.

Optic Planet was about the only one who had any left and going quickly. "I like how you can check how many are in stock here"

I got this pretty fast, packaged nice and safe. Instructions very easy to follow but make sure you do read them.

Keep in mind, the 3 minute warm up is necessary although you can disable it, its recommended you use it. You will have a count down timer actually, and beeper which you can change setting/loudness or even off. Also, when you turn off, make sure you always unplug it. If you dont and later turn back on it will not go through the 3 minute warm up and just go directly into mode for use.

Calibration is simple and good, also recommended you do before use, which may as well, your weight is right there.

This is not a con, but I will like to say I kind of wish the powder reservoir "tube" could be connected to the back when not in use. Or at least dust cover fits over top of it. Comes with a dust cover which you need to disassemble the reservoir for it to fit. So when you store it with the dust cover the powder tube kind of goes homeless so to speak.

Power adapter is even stored in a side compartment which is nice so you dont lose it while storing.

But I will say this about the powder tube reservoir, the old DPS III had a taller but more narrow one which seemed like it could be easily tipped if not careful. The new Gen 5 is shorter, but fatter, making it much more stable.

I love my Lyman Gen 5 DPS. And Im actually glad I held out and waited until this new one came out, not that it was planned this way, just worked out this way.

I cant think of anything I dont like about this, it exceeded all my expectations. I even used it tonight for loading shotshells powder dumping by hand instead of shotgun press
Pros: Powder trickling, speed loading, stand alone scale, large memory for load date
Cons: None
