Have a Lyman DPS 3. Now in it's 11 year, still works great. But at 11 years in use, felt I needed a back up unit.
Just received my new Lyman Gen 5!
Great! Faster and more control.
Very fast warm up. Simple to drain and clean.
Simple calibration.
Pros:
- New, faster & more contols.

I bought one of these to replace a digital scale that was not very accurate. I figured that having the powder measure built in would be helpful working up loads. I have used it numerous times and have only had it to be off by more that .1 Gr maybe twice. Usually it is spot on, maybe 10% of the time its .1 gr off (usually its closer to .05 when checked with a beam). I have ran a variety of powders from Trailboss to Varget to Tite Group with very little deviation. It requires you to allow it to warm up for 3 mins prior to use, but it doesnt go off on its own like a lot of others (or it hasnt on me) I fire it up when I start any loading operation and use the scale to double check a powder drop periodically with great success. Its pricey but a very nice unit that is very easy to use.

Thus far this powder dump has been a great buy. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to be a tenth or so off from time to time. In reading the owners manual that is normal, so like it, love it or leave it..... I found that a more stable work environment and stable base helps 100%..... I like my Lyman products!!!
Cons:
- The product comes with a nice dust cover but their is no way to store the filler tube in the same location.

After having read all the reviews, it appeared that this was the unit to get, although my friends all opted for the smaller Gen6 I am glad i went this one, as you can save all the load data in the memory, no more bits of paper on the reloading bench,
Dispenses in the perfect time, as its decanting the powder i am loading the projectile and seating and putting in the box just as it beeps to say the next one is ready
Deadly accurate every time, you cant go wrong with one of these,
Pros:
- Too many to list, but first would be the time saving

I've had this Lyman Gen 5 for a few months now. I originally wasn't sure whether I'd get the RCBS Chargemaster 1500 or this Lyman unit, since I couldn't justify the additional $100 for the RCBS unit, I chose this one. Setup is pretty straightforward with all calibration and setting changes explained step by step in the included manual. I usually allow the unit to warm up for 3 minutes upon turning it on and calibrate it with the 50g weight every time it's used. I haven't used that many variations of types of powders besides flake powders, but seems to work well and I haven't had too much of an issue with the dispensing. Since the accuracy is rated at ±0.1 grains, I sometimes get powders dispensed -0.1 under and rarely +0.1 over the input dispense weight, but isn't an issue for me just to re-pour the powder into the reservoir and re-auto dispense. I think other factors causing this might be air circulation around my workplace, how sturdy my reloading bench is where this unit is sat, and the type of powder(s) I am using. So far it is serving me well, and I hope it continues to do so for at least several more years.

This is a well designed machine, it cut my reloading time by at least half, especially when you load large number of ammo. Here is what I do, I set it on auto-recharging, load one case, put the pan back on the scale, then seats the bullets. when I finish, the next charge of powder is just about ready. Very convenient and useful tool.
Pros: easy to setup and use, fast and accurate

The Lyman gen. 5 comes as advertised. I currently reload rifle and handgun using a single stage system. The lyman gen.5 was easy to set up, looks and appears sturdy (made mostly of plactic) and was fun to use. Cut my powder -bullet seat time in half easy. A bit on the pricey side but very happy with unit overall. Only downside is the removal of powder from the reservoir when finished with project. Follow instructions exactly on this to avoid the mixing powders. I would recommend this product.
Pros: Accurate, fast, nicely build
Cons: Clean up
