Lyman isn't what it once was... - Lyman Pistol Bullet Mould: 44 Caliber - #429421

I have several Lyman molds and most of them are 40 plus years old. Those drop great bullets. Unfortunately, my last three, a 429244, 429383 and this 429241 drop bullets that are .428 or less even with linotype. It should at least drop bullets at .429. If you don't mind taking a chance and can lap the mold, get Lyman molds. Otherwise steer clear. This will be my last Lyman mold. I'm tired of lapping molds and being told to use linotype. I've lapped the 429241 twice now and it finally drops bullets at .431 so they can be sized to the .430 that I need in my Redhawk.
I haven't had issues with my Lee molds but prefer the shape of Lyman bullets. I think my next one will be RCBS.
Lyman's mold quality has definitely gone down. Do a bit of research on line and you'll see undersized bullets are a common issue with Lyman molds. They look nice but dropping undersized bullets is inexcusable.
The only reason I didn't rate it a one was with a bit know how you can make it work like it should right out of the box.
The only real plus was shipping was quicker than I expected.
Pros:
Looks nice
Cons:
casts undersized bullets
price not worth the quality
Would Recommend:
No
