This case gauge works really well to help you determine head spacing for average reloading for target shooting. There are more accurate precision systems one could select for more competitive or precision shooting & setting the ogive to the landings. But for everyday plinking, this gauge is great. If it fits in the gauge, it should chamber in your rifle. Of course you still want to check all your other specs as well, case length, crimp, OAL, etc.

This will be my 8th one of these for the various cartridges I reload. In my mind they are a must have for safe and dependable ammunition, especially bottleneck cases. Simply plunk the case in and you know instantly if it's headspaced properly and if the length is within specs. Much faster than measuring each one..Several times, especially with .223, I've had size cases that were out of spec that would have caused a jam in an AR..So get one for each cartridge and save a bunch of time, be safer, and have peace of mind that your cartridges are within spec...Just keep a thin coat of gun oil on it when stored, and it will last a lifetime. As a side note, if you start seeing cases that fail the test, sometimes case lube (or debris) can build up on the inside causing the case not to seat in the gauge all the way, just clean it out and re-check those cases. If it was dirty, the cases will pass the check after its been cleaned. (that is, if the case is within spec).

VERY necessary tool for 50 BMG brass not shot of your rifle. Resized brass must plop in not be pushed in. If it doesn't plop, put a little extra lube around the bottom 1/3 of the case and resize fully until the shell holder touch's the die, if you leave the smallest space it will not feed into most rifles.
Pros:
- Helps with resizing military brass

I purchased this as well as the pistol gauges. looks solid. very helpful when determining if i have to trim the case or toss it because it's too short. after trimming, placed it back in the gauge to see if it is within spec(according to the gauge) and then I would measure it with the calipers as a "just to make sure." gauge works perfectly, all my brass are within specs. Would definitely recommend.

I like it, it makes me feel safe as a first time reloader. I only had once case that didnt fit because the bottom of the case was slightly expanded. I wouldn't have noticed the expanded area otherwise. Great safety feature. Get it and live to shoot another day.

Very easy to use and great to insure you dont blow yourself up. Just pop the case in and follow the instructions. It seems to be made of pretty durable material and the knurling helps a lot with holding it.
