Lyman universal case trimmer
Anyone getting this case trimmer needs to tighten the big nut holding the shell holder assembly end on, other wise it will seem to jam and not let go of the shell. Once this is done, it is a terrific, universal trimmer that will work very well on almost any caliber shell.
Pros: works well when set up correctly.
Cons: shell holder nut not tightened by Lyman.
Works as advertised
Easy to setup and use. Collet chuck allows quick and accurate locking of the cartridge case. Easy to remove, measure cartridges and install again to remove additional material if necessary. Sharpening head is very sharp and sits on the end of the rotary plunger. Hand crack allows swift rotating/turning of the handle. The assembly is a little light weight and has to be held in place by one hand while cranking with the other. A little awkward but easy enough to get use to.

Does the job well
This is a great trimmer. After you get the hang of it, it really is a great tool. Power pack comes in real handy for loading mass amounts of rounds

lyman universal trimmer
I really like this trimmer. It is the best one I've owned and the only problem is I should have bought it sooner than I did

Much better than Lee case length gauges.
Prior to buying one of these trimmers, I was using the Lee case length gauges with an electric drill. Compared with the Lee system, this trimmer saves a lot of wear and tear on your hands from vibration, tightening and loosening the shell holder, and cases coming loose.
The universal chuck is quick to operate and saves you having to buy shell holders. The only drawback with this setup is that you have to push the cutter pilot into the case mouth when you tighten the chuck to ensure correct alignment, but this is a fairly minor complaint.
I would consider the power adapter to be a must. It is so much faster to trim this way than by cranking the cutter by hand.
All in all, this trimmer is not on the level of a Giraud, but is also much less expensive

Excellent Deal
Great deal. It gives the user the ability to trim cases without any pulled muscles. I do not see a difference in ease of use between this trimmer and the RCBS auto trim.
