Overall, it is a nice flashlight. It is ready to use right out of the box (just add batteries). I have added a couple of extra goodies to mine, including the Bust-a-cap glass-breaking end cap, and upgraded to the Terralux 140 lumen led. In my other 6-cell, I upgraded to the Terralux 1000 Lumen head unit and can illuminates out to about 200 ft very well! Even if you don't add goodies to the light, it is a very solid unit stock. Pros: Size, Beam distance, sturdiness Cons: weight

Awesome, all on its own!

I purchased this light after having had several over the last 40 years. Always dependable, always bright. However, I was sucked into thinking the TerraLux conversion kit would make it even better/brighter. My review on that "kit" is far from stellar! Maybe it's just mine, maybe the directions weren't clear enough, and maybe I overpaid for something that just didn't work. Thankfully, the MagLites are still superior quality. Maybe I don't get the massive lumens this "kit" suggested, but it's "sufficient" all by itself. Kudos, Maglite for continued quality over all these years!

MagLite 6 D-Cell is great!

MagLite makes great stuff! I'm upgrading my 4 cell to this new 6 cell. It is really nice. I look forward to using it frequently. As a Realtor, I visit many vacant homes, so I need a lot of light for myself & my clients. This unit not only has great candle-power, the 6 D-cell batteries, make it an excellent tool for self-defense, if needed.
