DATSRBOI's Review of Magnetospeed Sporter Barrel Mounted Ballistic Chronograph
I went 8 years without a chrono. I wasted so much money load developing then I would load a lot of ammo to try to find my dope at long range to get an accurate estimated velocity of my bullet. The amount of money spent on ammunition and loading a lone would have costed as much had I just brought this chrono in the first place. Originally I did not want to buy it due to all the horror stories with it not working on cloudy days and how gun ranges would give you a hard time when trying to set up in front of the gun on a busy range. Then came the magneto speed. It was a lot more expensive than a conventional chrono but Reading how easy it was to set up I wouldnt get hammered on at the local range over it.
I love this thing. It picks up my shots over multiple rifles in ANY condition which is important. On cold cloudly days I am able to get a reading to see how my bullet ballistic changes in cold weather. A typical regular chrono would not do this. I have had mine for a few months now and have 100s of rounds through it and still works really well. I am still on my first battery too. It also fits in my range bag and this thing is reliable.
Some downfall is I got the cheaper model at the time and regret it a little. I now own a suppressor and some of my rifles have a really long rail. The cheaper unit is unable to adapt to those rifle setup. I recommend you guys to spend the extra money when you can if you think you will be in those situation. Because of that I am unable to get a reading on some rifles. It also will have a POI shift point but its not as bad as many think. For the money on this unit alone I have saved so much money on ammo.
