So would not work right out of the box, so directions say adjust sensitivity and trying to navigate an extremely frustrating to use menu was so hard to figure out I am ready to buy something else total waste of money.

The battery is dead before I even opened the package and the cheap back cover is broken out of the package. If I didn’t need it right now I would be sending it back for 225 dollars.
Pros:
- Other parts look nicely built
Cons:
- Definitely could be improved in certain areas

I purchased the Magnetospeed Chrono because I was trying to estimate my bullets' velocities based on POI at 100 yards and 200 yards but folks told me I really needed a Chrono. I didn't want to spend a ton of money and thought that something attached to the end of the Rifle barrel (versus downrange) would be much simpler to use. When I received the unit, I read all the directions and attached it exactly as instructed. Initially, I used the thinner rubber mount pad with unit set to Hi 1 sensitivity (which is what it recommends for 6.5 Creedmoor caliber). What surprised me was that my POI @ 200 yards was 4 1/2" higher with the Chrono attached than without it attached. I really thought I must have messed something up so I returned to the Range a few days later but decided to try out the thicker rubber mount pad. However, the results were exactly the same, my POI @ 200 yards was 4 1/2" higher with the Chrono attached than without it attached. On my 2nd Range trip, I initially shot 10 rounds without the Chrono, then shot 10 rounds with the Chrono (after the barrel cooled) and these were the results that I found. During my 1st Range outing with the Chrono, I thought it may have been a Scope issue but that doesn't appear to be the case. I made sure the Chrono was fastened exactly as instructed and stayed firmly in place. Folks say that I'm probably affecting the barrel's Harmonics but how do you account for a 2 1/4 MOA shift? The very last Theory I had was perhaps the Chro...

I got this for load development and it does work well on my factory barrel but will not work on my bull barrel . My thoughts are they should make an updated model that let's you adjust the prob up and down to accommodate for the readings so it will work better with out having to pay hundreds of dollars for bulky adapters and all that extra none nedded stuff. Come on with today's world make things more simpler.. I'm going to most likly sell this and go wroth the lab radar.
Pros:
- Works on standard barrels good
- Works good on factory barrel
Cons:
- Won't work on bull barrels
- Won't work on bull barrels or suppressed rifles

A little diffuclt at first to get used to strpping to the barrel,
and would like to see better container to keep it in,
(I bought a hard sided case with foam rubber to keep it in).
All in all I like the item

It can be tricky setting this up on tapered barrels and barrels with limited real estate due to an extended handguard. However, once set up it stays put and records everything that flies past it. The features of the V3 are nice, but at that point you might as well commit to the LabRadar. This works well, is simple to use, easy to pack in a range bag, and well worth it, especially if setting up a traditional style is difficult or prohibited at your range.
Pros:
- easy to use
- packable
- Accurate
Cons:
- Tricky to set up on certain barrels

Works on regular profile barrels well. I have issues with pencil barrels and with long muzzle breaks. On slim barrels it likes to move around and wont fit anuthing with a break over 2.5 inches. I think i will sell mine and buy a lab radar.

If you're into precision shooting, load development, or just like to tinker with ballistics a chronograph is probably on your list of items to get.
Some Chrono's can be finicky with weather conditions, sunlight, placement and distance from muzzle. The magneto Speed seems to not have these issues. It's also very easy and quick to setup. Strap it to your rifle, plug in the display unit, and let 'er rip.
The magneto Speed delivers on quality and usability and is a great option for budget minded folks. Its very straight forward easy to setup out of the box and is accurate when properly installed on the barrel of a firearm. We tested the unit on a Savage model 60 .17HMR using 17g ammunition with an advertised fps of 2350 on the box. The average speed from 5 shots was 2348.
Overall for the price point, ease of use, and small size this unit works for us. We recommend it to everyone who asks our opinion of it.

A lot of my rifles have muzzle breaks and bull barrels. So setting up the bayonet and maintaining the 1/8 of distance from the bore was a real pain. Multiple shots required to get one reading. Constant re tightening and re positioning until you find the sweet spot to get a reading. I have several rifles that I could not get readings on and gave up after 8 or 9 attempts. Sent a lot of rounds downrange without readings. Just a real pain in the rear to use. Might have worked better if I removed the breaks.
The instructions could be more informative and I found them not very clear.
On a positive note - It did work well on my rifles without a break or bull barrel.
I see a labradar unit in my future.
Best Used for:
- rifles without a break or bull barrel

Works very well, especially at the range, dont have to set up a tripod and optical chrony ahead if the firing line, wait for other shooters. Confident in the velocities recorded. Point of impact does shift slightly when using chrono, shoot for groups without it.
Cons:
- point of impact shift, more expensive than optical cheono
- Point of impact shift
