Magpul handguard
This handguard is well made, but requires removal of the sling attachment. I cut the forward lower part off so I could use the sling attachment on my rifle. Don't buy it if you want to use the stock sling attachment.
I guess Magpul made it like this to sell their own hardware for use of a sling.
great upgrade to a conventional forend
I bought this handguard for my BCA 10.5 556 AR. Stupid as i am i ordered the wrong length first. Despite the fact that i measured the old handguard i ordered the 9 inch model. Luckily to me OP is a fair business partner and accepts returns no questions asked. Once i received the correct length, i attempted the install. I have the spring ring install tool shsped like a U that you hook into the mag well. Even that didn't help in tge beginning. Finally, after 30 minutes and using every swear word i know multiple times, i got it installed. I put the bottom piece in first and then the top part. My gunsmith hammer helped with the final seating into the spring ring. The handguard feel very sturdy and stable. Having Mlok slots makes the difference although some on the top would be great. Overall, i give this item 5".

Not as easy as advertised
I removed the original carbine handguard from my AR using a standard delta ring tool. I could not get the Magpul handguard to drop in without substantially altering it. Finally getting it on, I like the feel of the slim handguard but it's appearance leaves something to be desired. My AR was acquired used and appears to have been assembled from a parts kit so it's possible it may not be 100% up to factory specifications.

Love it, but tight fit
I've used the regular MOE handguard in the past and decided to try this, and I definitely am a fan. You get just a bit more length to work with, allowing you to hold the handguard just a bit further up the barrel, and also granting you space for another M-lok slot. It's comfy to hold, and in my opinion, looks very nice. The only complaint I might have is that installing it was a pain in the butt. The regular MOE handguard takes me like, 5 seconds to install. This took... dramatically longer than I'd care to admit. I had to pull the delta ring ALL the way back, as far as it can possibly go, to he able to barely force the thing into place. Maybe it was just a me issue and I somehow was doing it wrong, but either way that's my only complaint.

Great concept but failed for me
Most if not all M4 rifles have a sling swivel. If yours does this does not fit as the extension is too narrow to go over the swivel. Great looking color and would have been great if it fit.

Easy install on a S&W M&P AR15
Took me a little while to get the hang of depressing the spring lock without the handy tool. Once I figured that out took all of ten minutes to get the stock handguard off and the new Magpul installed. Fits like a glove! If you have the stock M&P just know that you have to remove the sling attachment on the front sights in order to fit this handguard. Just knock out the pin.
The handguard is sturdy and fits really snug. The heat shield is pretty beefy and should do the trick. Upper and lower fit really tight.

Slightly Better than Original Carbine Stock...But only Slightly....
My only critique. The M-lok slot locations and lack thereof....None at the twelve O'clock and the ones "towards" the top are slightly angled at the two O'clock. Why didn't they have a picatinny rail molded into the top half of the handguard ? Wasted realestate IMO. Makes it difficult if not impossible to mount a DBAL or anything similar. Huge and VERY obvious mistake IMO. Otherwise a VERY SOLID piece, well made and amazingly perfect fit and good price....Yes I could get a fully outfitted pic rail h-guard, but that means covering unused rail portions adding more weight to the rifle.
