It attaches to a carbine buffer tube — not a rifle buffer tube like my more expensive Gen.1 PRS. However, I had to mill out with a Dremel tool a substantial amount of aluminum material from the bottom front flange of tube in order to clear the QD hole. The QD hardware is what holds the stock in place. I purchased an inexpensive buffer tube from OpticsPlanet; perhaps; it was out-of-spec — I don’t know. Unlike the older PRS, you cannot adjust the pull length & cheek height on the fly. You need to use an Allen wrench, which is 5x slower. However much the lower lower price and lighter weight compensate for the issues I faced. I would buy another one if I needed to build another sniper rifle.
