Gman's Review of Meprolight MOR Military Multi Purpose Reflex Sights
Purchased the Mepro MOR vis/IR Bullseye reticle to mount on a IWI X95. As the rifle and optic were design to work together, it is plug and play. Unlike the SAR version of the Tavor, there is no provision for mounting the LASER PTT in the X95's grip panels. The provided 8" PTT comes with a attached VELCRO strip which is long enough to wrap around the X95's fore grip allowing attachment of the PTT in multiple locations along the fore grip. If you intend to use the MOR on a SAR version of the Tavor purchase the 12" PTT cable as this will be long enough to use the mounting hole in the grip. The MOR has triple redundancy for illuminating the reticle (1) fiber optic illumination with ambient light (2) Tritium and (3) 2 AA batteries which provides 2200 hours of continuous illumination at power setting 1 (of 3). Both vis and IR pointers will operate on one battery for 1100 hours on setting 1. The position switch for the battery illumination for the reticle is located on the lower left aft side of the MOR. There are six positions for the switch; "OFF" and 1, 2 & 3 levels of brightness, (V)isable and (I)R. With the switch in 1, 2, 3 or V the PTT will activate the visible red LASER. Position "I" the PTT will activate the IR pointer. After 3 hours of inactivity the unit will power down to save battery. Some have noted the MOR is heavy at 1 lb, but considering you are getting a reflex optic and LASER(s) all in one (with batteries) the MOR is not too beefy. The reticle vertical and horizontal adjustments are .5 mRad per click which works out to 1.25 cm's at 25 meters. The visible and IR LASER's are slaved to the reticle adjustment so it is not necessary to adjust them separately. Other posters have noted that the LASER's do not co-witness with the bullseye dot at all distances. This is not a defect. The LASER's cross the reticle dot. The LASER's are mounted on each side of the lens/reticle by approximately .75" and angled slightly inward. So at distances out to around 50m the LASER's will be outside of the bullseye dot slightly, from 50m to 100m the LASER's will be aligned with the dot and beyond this distance each LASER will cross to the opposite side of the bullseye dot. The LASER will never be more than a few inches off the bullseye dot at 300 yds. The objective lens is 30mm and provides a large, clear field of view. The bullseye reticle is best for CQB 200 yds and closer. The MOR is not a "scope". Even when matched with a Mepro MX3 magnifier it is best at 300 yds and closer. Over all the MOR has a substantial build quality due to its military roots. Fine China it is not. If I had to give the MOR any negative points it would be three. The first is the Tritium has an orange glow at night that can be seen by someone standing in front of the sight at some angles. Many Tritium optics suffer from this in varying degrees. The second is minor, there is no provision for a flash kill or lens covers. The MOR comes with a neoprene sock cover that can be tethered to the sight or rifle, but it is not as practical as lens covers. And last, as an "all-in-one" optic/LASER unit, if one of the LASER's or the optic itself became inop you're SOL. With separate LASER and optic devices you could change them out without losing both. But then again, if you are short on rail space or wanting to minimize clutter on your rifle...the all-in-one MOR is just the ticket.
