The device itself is very light, unobtrusive and well built. So far I’ve put it through some 2000 rounds of 9 mm and 223 with no ill effects. The MantisX does not have any problems detecting live fire, but once in a blue moon it will fail to detect dry fire. You can increase its sensitivity, but I haven’t found the failure rate to be high enough to warrant a setting change.
As far as you have a clear line of sight connection is not an issue. The app offers enough data to please advanced shooters, but most importantly it provides immediate feedback and training tips.
