Great lightweight day pack.

by Mr. Mark, Verified Owner from WV, United States Written on August 22, 2018
I bought this pack as a lightweight daypack for climbing class 1 and 2 Colorado 14,000+ peaks. I wanted something light enough to keep my total weight down but big enough to carry sufficient water, food, first aide and foul-weather gear. The problems I ran into is that the straps are a bit too thin for the load I’m carrying in the back (12-14 lbs) and when full the pack tends to “get round” allowing it to roll slightly on my back. The rolling adds stress to the shoulder straps digging in slightly into my shoulders making it uncomfortable after a couple of hours. I ended up buying some cheap shoulder pads on Amazon for $8 to fix the thin straps issue.

I still think it’s a great pack and I am clearly putting to uses that are beyond conditions for what it was designed to used under. I should probably have bought a slightly larger size (I keep a lightweight down winter coat in the pack along with a 100 oz camelbak plus food and other high altitude gear) but plan to continue to use it. With supplimetial shoulder padding it’s nearly perfect for my needs. It appears to be strong, lightweight, hydration compatible, and waterproof. I am able to carry enough survival gear that if I got caught it a storm (snow or heavy rain) I have sufficient gear in the pack to make it off the mountain under most extreme conditions.

I highly recommend it but probably not the best choice for high altitude solo climbing.
